To entertain a group of handicapped boys, five JLAers stage a mock battle against Batman.

Before journeying to a hospital ward, to spend time with handicapped boys, the Green Lantern uses his power ring to transform the Batman into a horrific monster. The arrival of the Justice League of America lightens the hearts of the handicapped boys. Soon each member of the team is getting requests to demonstrate their super-powers. The Green Lantern creates a power ring constructed monitor, so that the boys can see what Superman sees, with his telescopic vision. The boys ask to see the Secret Sanctuary. It was in anticipation of just such a request, that the Batman agreed to be transformed into the monstrous creature. The boys see said creature destroying the conference room.

The Justice League of America head out to meet the "threat". The Justice League of America plan to play up their conflict for the boys' benefit, and entertainment. The Justice League of America get more than they bargained for, however, when the Batman doesn't appear to be holding back. To make matters worse, the individual members of the Justice League of America suddenly become afflicted with handicaps of their own. Superman is struck blind. The Flash's legs fuse into a single appendage. The Green Arrow's arms disappear. The Hawkman develops extreme asthma. The Green Lantern is afflicted with a terrible stutter.

Despite their afflictions, the Justice League of America, working together, defeat the "creature". A news bulletin leads the Justice League of America to the conclusion that their old enemy, the Brain Storm, is the architect of their current dilemma. The Brain Storm has just broken his brother, Fred, out of prison. The Justice League of America head out to apprehend the Brain Storm. The Justice League of America decide to use their plight as a teaching moment, to show the boys that thier handicaps can be overcome. The Brain Storm animates several rock formations to attack the Justice League of America.

Each member overcomes his own individual handicap, alone, to repel the Brain Storm's attack. Looking for some payback, Fred tackles the Green Lantern. A brutal fistfight ensues. The Brain Storm creates new perils for the Justice League of America. Once again, the individual members overcome their own handicaps to triumph over the threats. The Green Arrow not only neutralizes the threat against him, but also brings down the Brain Storm. Green Lantern beats Fred down. The Brain Storm surrenders. The Brain Storm restores the Justice League of America to normal. En route to police headquarters the Brain Storm is struck with a new idea.

The Brain Storm transforms the Justice League of America into duplicates of the Brain Storm, all under his sway. Fred is put off that the Brain Storm doesn't also transform him, to give him super-powers. The remaining members of the Justice League of America, watching the events on Green Lantern's monitor at the hospital ward, engage the Brain Storms. The Brain Storms transform into Flashes to combat the Justice League of America. During the conflict, the Batman determines which of the six Flashes is the real Flash. Suddenly, the Flashes become Green Arrows. Once again, the Batman determines which of the six Green Arrows is the real Green Arrow.

The Green Arrows become Hawkmen. The Atom determines which of the six Hawkmen is the real Hawkman. The Hawkmen become Supermen. The Batman determines which of the six Supermen is the real Superman. The Supermen become Green Lanterns. J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter From Mars, determines which of the six Green Lanterns is the real Green Lantern. The Green Lanterns become Brain Storms again. With all their fellow members identified, J'onn J'onzz, the Manhunter From Mars, leaps forward and punches the real Brain Storm into unconsciousness. The Justice League of America is immediately restored.

The Brain Storm, along with his brother, is turned over to the authorities. The Justice League of America take possession of the Brain Storm's helmet, and place it in their trophy room. Returning to the hospital ward, the Justice League of America discover that their exploits, in overcoming their handicaps, have inspired the boys to do the same. Inspired by an early Justice Society of America case, the Justice League of America sign a pact, with the boys, to always treat handicapped people with respect.
