A Need for a Breakout!
The Justice League are going to get off of Cadmus' planet, but they are going to need a little help from Teri, the new Flash!
The Good
So in this issue, the stories are broken up into two to tell a fuller, more immersive, story.
Breakout!
So in this half of the issue, The Justice League escape Cadmus world. (With a little help from Teri, who's story occurs during the Justice League's "Breakout" story.) The writers for this half of the story did an incredible job with building up hype for the League escaping and eventually planning to take down The Five once and for all. I enjoyed how Ariel's morals were questioned in this issue by Coeval, and how it made her think if bringing Teri back was justified. (Which it 100% was!) While it is great to see the League acting more like the originals, I also like how they are still different and have differences on how [and when] they should fight, The Five. However, Hal Jordan is what sealed the deal for this issue!
Hal Jordan and his relationship with Locus is just the best! Ever since Locus became obsessed with Hal, their [not-]relationship has escalated to where their conversations between one another, is more amusing [or enjoyable] than the actual fight. (A good example is Hal in a daze when Locus mentioned having a harem full of Hal Jordan's, "One for each day of the year." as she put it.) The back-and-forth between these two brought life, and humor, to a very serious matter, with the League looking to run for their lives. So I still enjoy how the writers handle this crazy [not-]relationship.
Need for Speed!
This story occurs in the middle of Breakout's story. So with Teri infused with Berry's powers, she now realizes that what she did was wrong and is looking to fight for the greater good. And to fight for the greater good, she just had to punch her brother in the face (a lot!) I like what the writers are doing with her character, and turning her into a hero, as it makes her standout from her brother. They are twins, "The Wonder Twins", as they were called, however they are equally smart and didn't have any characteristics that made them feel like they were two different characters. Well, until now! Terry is evil and Teri is good. Simple as that. So how the writers showed off Teri wanting to do the right thing was really incredible. They handled her character well and showed that she's strong and determined when backed into a wall, or better yet, murdered by her only family! I'm interested in seeing how she'll play a larger role on the Justice League in the issues to come!
The Bad
This was an amazing issue! Was surprised that it didn't have any flaws in it!
The Verdict
5 out of 5, the next issue is the final battle between The League and The Five! (Onwards and upwards!) I'm on Twitter,@Lol_Clark. (Plus, check out my movie review for Batman: Assault on Arkham.)
