Will Scott Snyders new origin for joker affect Batman Arkham Knight
@batman3000: Welcome to Comic Vine, man. In what way do you think it would effect Arkham Knight?
@Battle_Forum_Junkie first I'd really like to say thanks for the welcome. I think since Scott Snyder has a major role with batman for the new 52 having been writing the current batman series along with batman eternal I think that the new origin he came up with is first of all pretty cool and also major because its every once in a while that u see an author write a new origin story for the clown prince of crime because u know what they say u fear what you don't understand. Anyway I was just curios and by the way spoiler alert to those who haven't read batman endgame joker now is immortal which means that he would've survived and again spoiler alert to arkham city being sick and dyeing. So even though rocksteady insisted that joker is DEAD I'm still curios. :)
@batman3000: No problem, man. :)
Well, we still don't know how Endgame will all play out. It looks like the Dionesium might be something that Joker only acquired recently. And it could be that he isn't immortal at all, and this whole thing it just an elaborate joke that he's set up to mess with Batman. I wouldn't start running with any assumptions just yet, since there's likely to be a major twist at the end of this arc.
That being said, I would also prefer if the Arkham games continued to use original material for their storylines and not just copy the comics. Of course, it's certainly a possibility that Rocksteady will use this, but since they have stated that Joker will only be referenced in the game - although there are rumors of a flashback scene - I would say it's very unlikely.
@undefined: Not in any way whatsoever.
We don't even know if Joker is immortal. Probably not.
@_mongul: Hey man, I have heard a lot about this new origin of Joker, but I don´t read Batman, could you tell me what´s his new origin, and what changed ? Thanks.
@thor_parker82: He absorbed the same radiation from the rock that turned Vandal Savage imortal, therefore, he's imortal aswell(and very old).
My explanation is very superficial, i suggest you to take a in depht look.
@i_am_lightning: All right, thanks.
No, shut the f*ck up and let Joker stay dead.
Don't use uncensored swear words on CV or you'll get banned bruh!
@thor_parker82: Don't listen to what that other guy said. It has nothing to do with Vandal Savage.
Essentially, Joker is now CLAIMING that he's immortal and has been around Gotham since colonial times. He seemingly can't be killed, and they (Batman and Co.) have found photos of him from decades and decades ago.
However, nothing about this is confirmed. It could just all be a trick by Joker. So, basically, nothing about Joker's "origin" has changed.
@_mongul: All right, thanks.
I REALLY hope not. (And don't think so)
Snyder was the worst thing to happen to the Joker. Aside from Death of the Family, I suppose.
First, welcome.
Second, we don't even know if Endgame is what it is yet. I suspect that the final chapter will have several 'WTF' moments to it. It would be silly for DC to do a few things here. The first would be allowing Snyder to make Joker some sort of immortal, ageless, demon-creature. The second would be to give the Joker any sort of actual origin. Part of what makes Joker an interesting character is that both Batman and the reader know very little about him, and none of his past. There have always only been speculations with Joker, nothing solid. To give him concrete origins also gives Batman something of a lead in terms of detective work, which would lead to more information on the Joker (should the writers follow that natural line of thinking that Batman would certainly have) and possibly everything on him. No, I'm not buying him having origins or that he's supernatural as shown in Endgame. I re-read his villains month issue, canon to Batman and written from Joker's perspective, and there's not even a hint at anything like that. So I'll hold everything going on during Endgame at arm's length until then.
Also, the Arkham games are completely separate from the comics. There's very little similarity, and Rocksteady has a lot of artistic freedom.
Welcome to the Vine :)
Also, interesting post. Personally I don`t think it will have any affect on Arkham Knight simply because their two distinct universes and they follow their own flow of direction but I always wondered what it would be like if Scott Snyder were to be involved in the writing process of Arkham Knight when it comes to contributing ideas.
The guys at Rocksteady aren't stupid.
