i love cesar romero as the joker from the 60s tv show but who is your favourite
Joker
Character » Joker appears in 4237 issues.
The Joker, Clown Prince of Crime, is Batman's arch-nemesis. An agent of chaos known for his malicious plots, wacky gadgets and insidious smile, he has caused Batman more suffering than any other villain he has ever faced. His origin, name, and true motivations remain a mystery.
who plays the best joker
Mark Hamill FTW. He does the Joker voice so well when I read a story he is in I read it in Hamills version of the Joker.

Yep, but If I could only pick one...Mark Hamil all day every day.
@Manwhohaseverything: I know exactly what you're talking about it. Don't get me wrong I love Ledgers performance but the voice and the creepy/joking spin Hamill puts on it in Arkham Asylum and Arkham City is amazing and also the years he spent on TAS. To me Ledger was a great performer and scary as IDK what, but IMHO Hamill has the essence of the Joker figured out and plays it out perfectly with his voice. Hamill will forever be the voice of The Joker to me.

Tough choice. Like many others, I quite literally hear Mark Hamill's voice in my head when I read the Joker. So I suppose that he's my number one Joker - he always gives an amazing performance. He really owned it in TAS and subsequent series and he brought it to a whole new level of creepy in Arkham Asylum and Arkham City.
I'm also a big fan of John DiMaggio (Under the Red Hood). It took a few minutes to get used to the voice but he was a great mix of intelligent and creepy. If he had a better Joker laugh I think he could even give Hamill a run for his money.

Who has the best joker laugh??
Hamill, Ledger, Richardson.
This category Ledger REALLY shined... his little psychotic inhalation, like it's so funny it's literally killing him inside, has actually influenced the way I build up my personal evil laugh. However, after that build up, I try to imitate the very best -- Hamill. There's no denying that he's the very best. As has been said, I hear his voice when I read the comics.
This is a tough one, I liked Ledger's performance I still think he was over rated and he gets a lot of praise because he died and people say he got to into the Joker character. And I think Jack's was just an ramped up version of Caesar Romero... I'd have to go with Caesar Romero for nostalgia sakes.
When it comes to voice acting it's Hamil all the way. Brent Spiner did the Joker in the Young Justice series and he did a really good job (one of the few things I liked about that series) Also, John DiMaggio did a good job in under the red hood.
As for live interpretation I personally feel no one really did it well. Caesar Romero, like the rest of that series, was too campy and took away any serious threat the character had (also think it was stupid that he wouldn't shave his mustache so they had to just makeup over it) Jack Nicholson is great actor, but his joker was to stiff and mechanical, it didn't have that animated feel the Joker needs to have. And Ledger was the worst of them all. His was nothing like what the Joker should be and it isn't surprising when you learn that he didn't know anything about the character when they hired him and how upset he was over having to portray him as being remorseless.
Live Action:Heath Ledger
Animation:Mark Hamill
Though I like John DiMaggios Joker in the under the red hood too,and I like seeing other people take on the role too.
Hamill will always be the best Joker ever for me!!!! No one will ever beat his performance as the Joker!!!
The best Joker is in any of the DCAU. Under the red hood somewhat managed to change my mind, but until then, no one was able to even match Hamill as the Joker
Hamill for cartoons
Ledger for live action
Like so many others have said, Hamill's voice is what I hear when I read the comics
