    Origin

    John Collins was a mental patient, a drifter with no connections with any political groups, underground or otherwise. Then he was approached by a man who asked him to blow up the UN building.

    Creation

    Collins was created by Keith Giffen and J.M. DeMatteis for their new series Justice League.

    Max Lord gave John a bomb and weapons to blow up the United Nations Building. The bomb was grafted to his chest and was programed to go off if his heart stopped. After his team is defeated by the new Justice League he threatens to set off the bomb, Batman, the leader of the Justice League at the time, orders his people to leave Collins. He is later found dead with a possible self inflicted gunshot to his head. The bomb failed to detonate because Max had removed the firing pin before he gave it to John.
