Red Hood's helmet

Is it me, or when Rocafort was doing the art, Jason's helmet seemed to be able to show emotions?

Nope it's not just you, that's his artistic interpretation. I liked it though :)

That turned me off, maybe once I read it I will like it, but helmets aren't supposed to show emotions. :<

What's even more confusing is that the title is called Red Hood, which implies it's a mask (a fabric), not a helmet.

Yep that's how it was drawn, but I personally didn't care for it. I prefer the look from Under the Hood.

You want pics of the original hood as it was worn when Jason first came back?

Compare to how it looks in RHATO and it's clearly different.

hmm,i see the difference and thanks for the pics.

anyway,i didnt notice until pointed out and honestly,to show the emotion through a helmet without over doing it is nice in my opinion.

How long have we seen costumed heroes and villains expressing emotions through domino mask, cowls, and face plates? This shouldn't be a surprise to anyone.

It was like a mix of fabric and helmet, hence the imprints of his face showing from underneath.

That did bug me at one point or another. Still it's somewhat plausible if his mask is attached to his eyebrows and other parts. (and perhaps if the mask is elastic) :p

Not necessarily saying they should change this or not do it anymore, but it can be distracting. But I suppose it's just something where the pros outweigh the cons.

That's just the artist's perspective.

because when rocafort was drawing it, it wasn't a heltmet but a mask.

If Spider-Man can manipulate the eye pieces of his mask to glare then suddenly go back to normal when he's surprised, then why can't a helmet do that? Also, what if said helmet is slightly see through and we are ACTUALLY seeing Jason's expressions from behind it?

I actually like it. It gives the artist the freedom to deal with facial features rather than most scene characterizations being through the words. I see Jason as sort of an assassin kinda character. Kind of like Deadpool with less of a mouth and actually sane. With this classification, and his obvious super-tech equipment and weaponry (not to mention some contacts his teammates have with tech) I don't see any reason why he cannot have a helmet that can show emotion. I think it would be kind of silly for Red Hood to be running around in a converted baseball helmet.

I loved Rocafort's art on RHATO. Each panel looked amazing, including Jason's hood. Its a very sleek design, if I were to change anything it would be to remove the mouth from it but its not that big of deal. I wish Rocafort was still the artist, the artwork had declined drastically since he left the title.

They should just give him a Spider-Man styled full face mask, but armored like Superior Spider-Man's.

I think it jason's reality it doesn't move but for the reader's its to help convey emotions(fairly subtly most of the time), Just putting him in a solid helmet kinda hinders what you can do in a panel. I actually liked you could see emotion because it added something, I kind of miss that plus his helmet looked cooler with rocafort.

Never liked Rocafort's design. It felt creepy like one of those ugly ass human mascots for college football teams. Just stick with the 2 eye holes and that's it.
