Jamie Smart remains based in England while he creates energetically violent & slapstick comic books for Slave Labor.  The four-issue mini-series Ubu Bubu was collected into a trade paperback, and also received a spin-off entitled Bohda Te.

Some of his previous works include greetings cards, the graphic novel Space Raoul, and the comic strips My Own Genie and Desperate Dan, which feature in the UK children’s comic The Dandy.  However, his most well known work to date was the 10-issue comic book series Bear, which was compiled into two trade paperbacks.

Influenced by the likes of Lew Stringer, Tom Paterson, Steve Bright and popular Scottish alternative creators, Smart’s art style is appears minimalist, but throws in vast amounts of detail and background, while his writing is hilarious.

Smart has also been working with Cartoon Network, of which he said on his Twitter account that “it’s been a five-year long grind to get shows off the ground. Here’s hoping, one day…”
