There's a new animated Iron Man movie coming your way. The movie was originally announced back in October. Now new details and images have been released.

On April 16, Iron Man: Rise of Technovore is coming to Blu-ray and DVD with UltraViolet from Marvel Entertainment and Sone Pictures Home Entertainment. Produced by Madhouse, the movie features Marvel characters such as Hawkeye, Black Widow, Punisher, War Machine and Nick Fury.

There's a deadly terrorist attack and Iron Man is blamed. He then has to go on the run from S.H.I.E.L.D. while trying to stop Ezekiel Stane. It turns out the insane Stane has developed a new type of "bio tech" that seems able to outclass even the Iron Man armor.

The cast includes Matthew Mercer (Resident Evil Damnation) as Iron Man and Norman Reedus (The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day and TV's The Walking Dead) as Punisher.

Exclusive to the Blu-ray release is an interactive art gallery featuring the conceptual art produced by Madhouse. The Blu-ray and DVD will both contain two behind-the-scenes featurettes: "Tale of Technovore," which explore the animation, story and adaptation of Marvel characters for the anime film and "S.H.I.E.L.D.: Protecting the Marvel Universe," which gives viewers an all-access look and brief history into the organization as portrayed in the comics and film.

    Here's the official synopsis:

Billionaire Tony Stark, in his Iron Man armor, prevents an attack from a mysterious new foe, but innocent bystanders are killed, including his best friend War Machine, Lt. Colonel James Rhodes. Detained for questioning by S.H.I.E.L.D., Iron Man escapes, determined to find the mastermind behind the attack. Pursued by Black Widow and Hawkeye, Iron Man enlists the help of the ruthless vigilante The Punisher. But can the Armored Avenger handle what he finds when he catches the person responsible and is forced to face his deadliest weapon, a biotechnology called Technovore that could wipe out all life on the planet?

Some images have also been released.

The character designs remind me heavily of GI Joe: Sigma 6! Look at Duke then Hawkeye. Lol they look almost the same. But I'll probably pick this up along with Iron Man & Hulk: Heroes United!

Nice. Very nice, indeed. Although I wish Marvel would make animated original movie for Spider-Man, X-Men and so forth.

Nice, glad to see Madhouse rocking it with more Marvel Anime features. I wonder is it too much to hope for an X-Men Anime film too? Haha.

I agree with this. When will Marvel realize that without Robert Downey Jr. no one really gives a crap about Iron Man.

For the record I've seen every Iron Man cartoon and animated movie and I don't think I liked any of them unless you count Avengers Earth's Mightiest Heroes. The roster in this movie has me intrigued enough to give this movie a shot. Madhouse joints have some pretty sharp anime style art but they don't always have quality writing or direction. Call me cautiously optimistic.

Unfortunately, as much as I love Marvel, I think DC will always have the bestter DTV films.

With that said, I want to be surprised and see a superior Marvel film.

@mk111: DC just does better animated products then Marvel. I would think it would be easy to say that everyone did like Hulk vs Wolverine but other then that their animated films have just sucked donkey dick. I was suprised at how well Avengers EMH was tho. Just seeing those commercials kept me away from the show till I DVR'd a few of them when I saw they started over and was pretty damn entertained. The show was over all very well done and the level of violence was not expected. No one will argue that Batman TAS is still the best just because of how good it was, but it led to Superman, Justice League, and Justice League Unlimited which I still say is my favorite just because of the use of B listers. Young Justice tho. It started off slow. The voice over work was annoying and it still has bits of voice over work that drives me nuts but the show is so well done. Once again using B listers, but intergrating the Justice League into it as much as it does is amazing. Plus having the 2nd season jump 7 years to a whole new cast took major balls and it's working great. What ever. The fact that it's anime tells me its going to be aimed towards a more grown up audience. Marvel can waist projects on small profits now that Disney owns them and that's a good thing. With DC, even as big WB is, they still can not take the risk of selling films that are not focused on just Batman and Superman and that's crap. I do think WB is onto something with Dark Knight Returns being a 2 parter and they could use that in the future for something like Blackest Night, or even Justice League Generation Lost. I mention Generation Lost because major characters are in it, but its mainly B listers and that could be fun. Plus Generation Lost was such a good story, I'm surprised no one ever talks about it.
