Beware at your own risk, the title stated spoilers, so turn away now. The title has stated so. Okay, so I've seen Iron Man 3 (check out my review), and it was quite good, but a letdown.
Now Killian was revealed to be the true Mandarin all along, the leader of the 10 rings organisation. In the first Iron Man, this very same organisation are the ones that kidnapped Stark and used his weapons.
Yinsen also says to Stark ''we met once in Bern'' (the same event where Tony is at the start of Iron Man 3).
So now that Killian was revealed to be the leader of the 10 rings, it's highly likely that he was still the leader at the time of the events of the first Iron Man.
