    Iron Man

Character » Iron Man appears in 11204 issues.

Tony Stark was the arrogant son of wealthy, weapon manufacturer Howard Stark. Tony cared only about himself, but he would have a change of heart after he was kidnapped by terrorists and gravely injured. Pressured to create a weapon of mass destruction, Stark instead created a suit of armor powerful enough for him to escape. Tony used his vast resources and intellect to make the world a better place as The Invincible Iron Man. Stark's super hero identity led him to become a founding member of the Avengers.

If there is one thing we love here on Comic Vine it has to be our toys (you can even see our weekly Awesome Toy Picks feature, here), so when we got a peek at all the incredible Iron Man 3 inspired figures and busts from Hot Toys, we admit we were pretty excited. The most recent Hot Toys Iron Man 3 inspired figure is part of the 1/6th scale Power Pose Series. He's flexible and easy to move and demonstrates a full range of movements that we will see from Tony Stark in Iron Man 3. The Mark XLII series Iron Man suit is mostly gold and highlighted with bits of red giving it a very striking look that is quite different from previous suits. Of course, Hot Toys pays attention to the details, equipping the figure with LED light-up functions and even a "Stark Industries nameplate." The figure will be available during Q2 of this year.

I like the new War Machine look, (wish he'd have a shoulder mounted gatling gun in addition to the missile launchers) I'm really glad to see the Iron Patriot paint scheme isn't the only look he has (and hopefully won't be the majority of his part).

I still think the Mark 42 looks hideous, but they did an amazing job in recreating the look in these models. I wish they'd show the armors between Mark 7 and Mark 42. The coolest part is seeing how various comic book armors get represented in the movies. I think this Mark 42 starts out as the Modular Armor but becomes the Sentient Armor, and Extremis will be unveiled in the 3rd act. Like how the Mark 6 appeared to be the Silver Centurion Armor.
