I've always considered him to be pretty up their, he does do a good job of holding his own against guys like Gladiator and Thor, even if he is ultimately outclassed in terms of overall power.
What do you guys think?
Iron Man
Character » Iron Man appears in 11210 issues.
Tony Stark was the arrogant son of wealthy, weapon manufacturer Howard Stark. Tony cared only about himself, but he would have a change of heart after he was kidnapped by terrorists and gravely injured. Pressured to create a weapon of mass destruction, Stark instead created a suit of armor powerful enough for him to escape. Tony used his vast resources and intellect to make the world a better place as The Invincible Iron Man. Stark's super hero identity led him to become a founding member of the Avengers.
Do you consider Iron-man a mid tier?
High tier.
He can hold his own against powerful opponents.
Mid tier and street level characters get stomped by him.
It depends on the tier boundaries, if we're talking Earth alone I would put him low down in the top tier.
He can stand up to high-tier characters but looses to pretty much all of them. That being said he wipes the floor with almost all mid-tier characters.
I think he can be pretty up there with some of his armors (Bleeding Edge, Extremis), and ranking him as High-Tier is more or less accurate considering his lengthy list of battles and long experience. I don't know if I'd go so far as to label him a planetary-level threat, but he's generally accepted to be a relatively powerful hero.
I don't understand the question.
Mid-Tier in power?
Or Mid-Tier in popularity?
In Power; He's quite strong, Upper-Mid Tier IMO
In Popularity/Marvel U; Very high up there thanks to Robert Downey Jr and Avengers. Tied with Cap and Thor. With Hulk, Wolverine and Spider-Man just above him.

Sales vise he has been more around the level of Daredevil. However his sales did jump when there series got a new volume. However it is still dropping and fast. http://comicsbeat.com/marvel-month-to-month-sales-january-2013/ Iron Man is currently 31 overall. Daredevil is 60 overall on the list. He diffidently have some popularity for sure, but seems to have problem getting a bigger fanbase.
@tupiaz: I'd argue that people want to give him a chance, but his current volume is just awful. UItterly awful.
Iron Man is definitely not mid-tier but he's not quite top tier either.
- Overall Power - Thor, Sentry, Silver Surfer, X-Man, Dr. Strange and Black Bolt are top tier in terms of overall power. Iron Man is second tier in terms of overall power.
- Physical Strength - Hulk, Sentry, Hercules, Thor, Gladiator, Juggernaut and Hyperion are all top tier characters in terms of physical strength. Iron Man is second tier in terms of physical strength.
- Intelligence - Mr. Fantastic, Bruce Banner, Henry Pym, Iron Man and the Beast are all top tier in terms of intelligence. Iron Man is a top tier character in terms of intelligence.
- Durability - Juggernaut, Thor, Silver Surfer, Hercules, Gladiator, Sentry and Hyperion are all top tier in terms of durability. Iron Man is second tier in terms of durability.
- Ladies Man - Hercules, Iron Man, Namor, Hawkeye are all top tier in terms of being ladies men. Iron Man is a top tier ladies man.
- Wealth - Iron Man, Namor, and Iron Fist are all top tier in terms of Earthly wealth. Iron Man is top tier in terms of Earthly wealth.
Iron Man is top tier in three out of these six categories and second in the other three. That kinda puts him between the top tier and the second tier.
It depend on what he's doing
but usaually
He The Lowest of the Top tier
or The Highest of The Mid Tier
Iron Man is definitely not mid-tier but he's not quite top tier either.

Iron man in powergrid is a 6 in durability so it''s top tier, but not on the level of superheros you mention but on the same basic level but lower then the ones mention.
He is mid-tier from what this list has said.
http://www.comicvine.com/forums/battles-7/chaosblazers-guide-to-power-levels-dc-and-marvel-689145/
Depends on which suit he's using. Bleeding-Edge and Extremis are low-high-tier but black and gold or his silver centurion/classic armors are probably high-mid-tier.
He's one shot spider man and she hulk in classic armors. Channeled all his power into one punch and knocked out the hulk (that tactic did NOT knock out silver surfer). He's used an adamantium missile to defeat ultimo. One of the few characters to beat magneto 1 vs 1. Only hero to stand up to rogue in her first appearance. He's always been top tier even in his classic armors.
Physical Strength, marvel's Hyperion is ironman level, but he moves faster so hyperion would have much greater punching power then ironman but in lifting hyperion and ironman around the same level looking the powergrid.
Durability ironman is 6 on the powergrid so he in Durability he is sentry's and thor's level, but not invulnerable like them.
Ironman is planetary,not mid-tier.
Hyperion is getting his own comic.Oh and forgot to mention that he slowed down or stop a planet the size of earth in 616 so is he above ironman level in strength,so the powergrid got it wrong. His strength level would be incalculable.
Hyperion is in superman's power tier group but more powerful.
