Each week we take a close look at a comic book collectible. That means taking it out of the package. Sideshow Collectibles have given us an early look at the latest Artist Mix Collection figure -- Hulkbuster Iron Man from Age of Ultron.
Check out our unboxing video to get a full look at the package and everything inside.
The Artist Mix Collection by Hot Toys has featured a variety of different sorts of figures. This is a smaller figure than the 18" sixth scale figures. This figure stands about 5 1/2" but still has a great amount of detail you would expect. The smaller size also means it's a little more affordable than the sixth scale figures.
It's a pretty solid figure. The paint gives it a metallic look but instead it's made out of solid plastic, weighing about 3 lbs. Still, it has a nice heft to it and captures the look of the massive suit of armor.
The figure has massive arms and hands, as seen in the movie.
It should be noted, there isn't any articulation to this figure. This is something you'll have to put on display. Because of the design of the suit, you probably wouldn't want to or be able to put it in other positions. Even if you could raise the arms, it'd likely cause it to become unbalanced.
This figure does come with an interchangeable arm. You can swap out the left arm for jackhammer arm. At first, it was a little difficult to remove the arm (as seen in the video). Once you remove it, it's not a problem switching back and forth.
You won't have to worry about this figure tipping over. As you can see above, it has big feet and there is some support on the back of each.
The figure is just about ready to start shipping. You can pre-order it and find more information here:
The figure will cost you $89.99. There's a real nice style to the design that makes it stand out from other versions I've seen. The size makes it easy to find a place to put it on display. Obviously this is for serious collectors. The price may not be suited for everyone but the detail is great. I can see some preferring some articulation but realistically, you wouldn't want to play with a figure like this. It would be cool to be able to position it with a Hulk in the same scale but I think it looks pretty impressive and menacing just standing with its arms at its side.
Thanks to Sideshow Collectibles for sending us this figure early. Let us know what you think of the figure and design.
