Washington, D.C. is under terrorist attack - or is it? Tony Stark's had his chance... can his armored alter ego prevent a tragedy of historic proportions? The shattering, all-action conclusion to "The Best Defense" leads to a MAJOR change in the life of Iron Man!

Iron Man helps two Air Force pilots fend off Defense Secretary Sonny Burch's missiles then enters the Galaxy, discovering the salvaged Iron Man armors. He has the remaining crew don the armor, controlling them via his own suit, and use them to evacuate the jet. Iron Man brings out the Galaxy's landing gear and forces it into a crash landing on Capitoll Hill. The armor-clad military men salute Iron Man for saving their lives. As Tony recovers in a hospital the next day, Conrad visits him and reveals that the Senate vote was halted when the Senate was evacuated due to the crisis. When they reconvened, the Senators changed their votes and voted in his favor. The President arrives to announce that Tony will be sworn in as Secretary of Defense.
