Indestructible Hulk #2 Review
***SPOILER FREE REVIEW***
I have to say I'm impressed with Waid's and Yu's efforts on this new series. Hulk has never been a character I've been interested in. However, the two are crafting a very interesting and exciting Hulk series.
Waid does a masterful job with dialogue, nailing both Bruce Banner's and Tony Stark's dialogue. The interaction between the two is not only well written, but highly compelling and a good deal of fun. Luckily for us, we get plot progression as well, as we get an update on what it's like for Bruce Banner to work for SHIELD. Waid is known as being one of the best writers out there, and this series is firmly supporting that theory.
For the most part, Yu's art is quite good. It's quite different than alot of other art we see out there on the shelves, and it works quite well. Yu does an excellent job of bring enthusiasm and detail to both action sequences and dialogue heavy panels, including manipulating perspective. My only complaint is that Alanguilan's inks come off as too thick quite often, and this can detract away from some panels. However, this is still a really good looking comic.
Overall, I have to say that Indestructible Hulk is currently rising to the top of my favorite Marvel NOW! titles. We've had a pretty fun start to this series, and it'll be fun to see where Waid and Yu take us. I'd recommend picking up this comic.
