Only one word can describe this storyline: EPIC!
Warning: There are major spoilers in this review. If you have not read Planet Hulk, do not read this review.
I haven't read a Hulk comic in my entire life but after seeing the movies (Including the god-awful 2003 one directed by Ang Lee), I was interested in reading the Hulk comics and I've heard great things about Greg Pak's run and Peter David's run on the character.
I decided to get into Greg Pak's run by reading: Planet Hulk, and all I have to say is this about the story: EPIC!
I loved every moment in this story but before I tell you why, I'll tell you what Planet Hulk is about:
The Illuminati (A group that consists of: Mr. Fantastic, Black Bolt, Professor X, Doctor Strange, Tony Stark/Iron Man, and Namor the Sub-Mariner) decide to launch Hulk into space due to getting tired of Bruce Banner turning into the Hulk. Instead of landing on a planet that has no Aliens or anything dangerous, the Hulk lands on Sakaar. A planet filled with deadly aliens and a kingdom ruled by the evil Red King. Hulk then decides to fight the Red Hulk to save the citizens of Sakaar and make peace with the other aliens.
What I really love about this storyline is the writing and the art.
The way the Hulk is portrayed is very interesting and later on I felt bad for Hulk because he just wants to be alone and live in peace but is always having trouble trying to get that peace. I even felt really bad for Hulk when his space shuttle blew up and killed everyone including his wife except for Hulk and his allies. I even felt bad for Hulk's allies due to them being killed by the tyrannical Red King.
The way the action was written was also awesome because it's really cool seeing Hulk face off with other aliens including the Red King and even the Silver Surfer.
The art in the storyline is also beautiful to look at. I just love how the aliens and Sakaar is drawn. There were even times where I look at the art and say: "Woooooooow".
There's nothing much I can say about Planet Hulk other than the fact that it's an epic storyline that makes me want to read "World War Hulk" and the rest of Greg Pak's run on the Incredible Hulk.
