After being bombarded with a massive dose of gamma radiation while saving a young man's life during an experimental bomb testing, Dr. Robert Bruce Banner was transformed into the Incredible Hulk: a green behemoth who is the living personification of rage and pure physical strength.
Rumor: David Tennant Playing The Hulk
Recently, we reported that Mark Ruffalo could be playing Bruce Banner in the upcoming Avengers film. A few others have been thrown around on the internet as well: Joaquin Phoenix, Adrien Brody, and Nathan Fillion. There's also one more man rumored to be casted as Dr. Robert Bruce Banner... David Tennant.
Finally, a rumor I give a darn about. The Doctor could be playing a Doctor! and by "could" I mean, this most likely won't happen. However, to humor myself and all the other Tennant fans out there, I've got some great reasons why David Tennant would make an amazing Dr Robert Bruce Banner.
David Tennant looks the part. He's small, a little scrawny, and nerdy looking, which is exactly what Bruce Banner looks like. The both have the same hair and eye color. Also, if you've ever watched Doctor Who, when Tennant was on, you know they guy feels natural when talking all "nerdy." As much as I loved Ed Norton as Banner, I never really believed him as a genius, but more of a kind of smart guy. Tennant is on the money with this one.
And while I've never heard Tennant try out an American accent, which could actually be a deal-breaker for me, he does have a great deal of talent and has a great range, which he's shown on Doctor Who. Maybe it's just the fanboy in my that wants to see Tennant do something else I would love to watch, but I sincerely think he would be a great Bruce Banner, at least better than the other people mentioned. What do you think about David Tennant playing Bruce Banner? Do you think it would work?
That'd be interesting.
Bit of a visual change from Norton who was in better shape physically.
I'd kinda like this though.
I'm down with this, as long as he can nail the accent. I'm pretty bias thought as I loved him in Dr Who
Not a bad choice, We've seen him in that kind of position in Doctor Who but I can see him as bruce even if he could be a good choise
A rumor is how I look at all these casting decisions until someone says something concrete.
It's still funny to me how some fanboyshaveman crusheson certain actors just because they were in some genre show I see David Tennet and Nathan Fillion's names on every dream casting lists of posters on the internet if it were up to some of them they would play any comic book character.
Just like I said.
Him or the guy from District 9 are my top 2 choices.
He probably looks like a genius because, he looks socially awkward.
C'mon, after Rogue, Gambit, and Black Widow, you guys still think anybody involved with a Marvel movie is even TRYING to match up accents? Heck, if you go waaaay back to the animated "Pryde of the X-Men," Wolverine had an Australian accent (right down to calling Toad a "dingo").
Honestly, as long as they get the core essence of Banner's character right, I'm willing to forgive inconsistencies like accent and appearance. What I won't forgive is when they utterly alter a character's background (yes, I'm talking to you, people who made the Street Fighter films). A slightly British-sounding Banner I can forgive, a Banner who is a suave insurance adjuster having a mid-life crisis who gains the ability to turn into the Hulk from an irradiated batch of Rogaine, I can not.
I think this rumour was probably started on Comicvine, lol.
As much as I'd absolutely love to see David Tennant in the role! I think it will never happen.

I would press the "Like" button..... if comicvine had one.
David Tennant should play every character in the Avengers. He was so great as the Doctor. I'd really like to see Tennant in more movie roles.
If he can do an American accent then I think he could play Banner really well, better than Mark Ruffalo. However, I still think Sharlto Copley would be the best person for the role. While I would have liked to see Norton continue on as Banner for the sake of consistency, I agree with inferiorego that I never believed him as a genius. The only actors in the Incredible Hulk movie that I really believed in their roles were Tim Roth and Tim Blake Nelson.
Would be good, but only a rumour. He was also rumoured to be up for the role of The Riddler as well....guessing Dr Who fans are fanning the flmaes to all these rumours :P
@Inferiorego: Did you and G-Man start this rumor? If you did, I commend you.
Although I've only watched a few episodes of Tennant as Dr. Who, this is potential casting that would be spot on. I agree, though, he'd have to lose the accent but all in all an excellent possible choice.
Yes, I just spammed this thread with pictures of David Tennant as the Riddler.
He is a good actor, but I would hope he had more screen time than playing Banner in the Avengers movie, where he would get little screen time compared to a role like the Riddler or something.
His american accent isnt bad and he can be found doing it on youtube. With a pair of glasses and his skinny body he would be the best physial fit for that old milk sop yet. I really dont care as I want more of the Hulk in the movie than Banner anyway. Yea I know good luck with that.
" I either want him or Adrian Brody to get the role. "Totally agree. Either one of them would be awesome.
A Scottish Hulk? That's funny... I don't think he's right for the part, but there are worse choices.
