Hitman Monkey is being marketed as his own character. He'll probably be recurring, but not exclusive to Deadpool seeing as how following his first appearance in Deadpool #20 he's supposedly supposed to be making an appearance in Amazing Spider-Man. In short; they're not giving Deadpool a monkey, he's his own character. One that I'm convinced Marvel stole. B*st*rds.

I think it would be a bit wiser to have him as a recurring character in Deadpool and see how fans take a liking to him before giving him his own series. but hey. marvel may have confidence in this one. i can't wait to check it out.

I'm still not seeing why Marvel is trying to hype up this character.

I think he'd be a better recurring character, imagine Hit-Monkey facing off against people like The Punisher or Daredevil. There are a lot of cool ideas you can use with this character.

In the Punisher one, him and Punisher could team-up after they find out they both have the same goals.

In the Daredevil one, Bullseye can be scared shit-less after finding out Hit-Monkey is out to get him and begs to Daredevil to keep him alive.

Is he not  a figment of Deadpool's imagination? Like his skewed reality pool-o-vision.

Hitmonkey might be a new Deadpool villain, he has a lack of those.

If detective chimp can be a major character in DC's major cross-overs, then I see no reason why hit-monkey can't be a reoccurring character in Deadpool.

im alright with anything as long as they do something with it.
outside of his Digital Mini, i didnt feel like they did alot with him.
He was there, Deadpool was afraid of him, Hitmonkey didnt really
live up to his name, or do anything really interesting or cool and
everyone went home happy. at least the characters involved in
Marvel Apes had a story going on, this was sort of just there to be
    there.
