He later on went to creating his own power ring from his own will power. Through sheer will power and determination, Hal has established an impressive record of heroism across the galaxy with the help of his fellow Green Lanterns as well as his peers in the Justice League.

    Johns always underpowers the Spectre and Batman, who knows why? Possibly because they are two characters who truly hate the Silver Age (metafictionally speaking).

    Johns doesn't underpower Batman... he beats the crap out of a bunch of sinestro corps in the war... is able to use the power ring, which Johns writes as something that requires immense will...and his will overrides the Sinestro Corps ring trying to induct him( this itself showing his psychological power.) In fact, Hal is only able to punch in the first place in Rebirth is because Batman was slightly infected by Parallax, which is mentioned in the commentary (that I have, at least.)

    @FadeToBlackBolt: Plus with the Spectre, it's more emotional manipulation than anything else...They don't show his power being curbed, but rather him being psychologically manipulated...after he was freed, he was more powerful than Parallax and chooses to leave. I believe Hal as a host made the Spectre less powerful rather than him actually being less powerful, which is why as Parallax, he is more powerful...
