    Green Power Ring

Object » Green Power Ring appears in 3238 issues.

The power ring of a Green Lantern is the source of power and a badge of authority for almost every member of the Green Lantern Corps. It is fueled by willpower.

Lantern Rings lose their title as most powerful.

I was thinking. Should the Power Rings lose the their title as most powerful weapon in the universe? At one point they really were powerful and could do almost anything but they seem to have been downgraded from the past for a long time now. We now have the Scarabs and other weapons in the DCU that seem pretty powerful in their own right..

So should they lose their title? What other weapons seem to rival the power ring?

Maybe I just haven't read enough GL, but I've never really seen the true potential of a Lantern Ring. What makes it the most powerful weapon in the universe?

If you count a white lantern ring as "a lantern ring" then I'd say yeah it's still the most powerful.

The Green Lantern ring shouldn't be labelled as the most powerful weapon in the universe anymore but I don't see why the White Lantern ring shouldn't be considered the most powerful weapon in the universe. Though Swamp Thing doesn't seem to be using it in the New 52.

Power rings have lost much of their potency, but I still don't see any other non-unique weapon out there that can match them. Sure scarabs are powerful, but scarabs were made specifically as an answer to GL rings so I don't think that counts.

Originally, the ring could do anything you could imagine. Like, need to cure yourself from a lethal illness? No prob. Need to slow down time in a certain area? Just tell the ring. Need to teleport to the other side of the universe? Already there. Need to rewrite your genetic code and turn yourself into something else? Piece of cake. Literally the only limits were you willpower and imagination.

This has been toned down considerably since Johns took over. Now they can just create any construct you can think of and the amount of power they have (Like, how big you can make something) has been scaled down considerably, but they're still very goddamn powerful.

It still should be called the most powerful weapon because it can do anything you can imagine.

I'm still kind of lost on the radiation thing, can they or can't they copy different types of radiation?

The white ring of Life should not be the most powerful. It just makes no sense. The closer to the middle with the Green being the center is where the most powerful rings reside. If we started furthest from the middle and worked our way in it would break down like this:

The White Ring (good): The power to grant life it the basic power this ring represents and should be granted to the most experienced medical members of the Green Lantern corps. Only one combat member wears this ring Hal Jordan, because of his ability to return to life after the abduction he suffered at the hands of Parallax. The problem with this ring is the further from the center the more it tugs on you and changes who you are. Because Hal was once dead and has returned there is no who you are, which makes it easy for him to not be swayed. As for prior medical members of the Green Lanterns they are medical professionals, which means saving a life is what they do so it is not a huge drag on them.

The Star Sapphire Ring (good): A ring of Love and it wishes to spread it and protect it universe wide. Always seeking a host with a broken heart, it is powered by love, and while it is a force for good it is furthest from the center which means there are times and cases when the Love that powers this device might seek to defeat, destroy or even kill a Green Lantern or one of the other good guys. Love knows no bounds so as sure as two star Sapphires might find love, a Star Sapphire might find love in one of the other Lanterns except LarFleeze, because he trusts no one...Very powerful ring but because it is so far from the center there are times this ring might pick a fight with a good guy or START A FIGHT WITH A BAD GUY...

The Indigo Tribe (good): Like the red and orange ring this ring eats away at the soul. The wearer feels nothing but compassion. Always aligned with the Green Lantern.

The Blue Ring (good): If all rings had the same charge this ring would be the most powerful period. But again because it is not the center it does have a affect that tugs at the host existence. And while Hope is always great it is greatest when combined with will. Because the ring seeks host with great hope, these Lanterns always look for the best in beings, and sometime they are taken advantage of. They often reside on Mogo, trouble find them when they travel in space as they are often taken advantage of. They are an extension of the Green Lantern Corps...

The Green Ring (neutral/good): The most powerful ring because all its wearers have great will, and because it is the center is doesn't alter who or what the wearer is. It is simply powered by the wearer an the will of the wearer. The ring has no limit in what it feats it can perform. No strength limit, no speed limit, no shape, size, construct, magic or astral body limit. Also, the will powers the ring which means if a Green Lantern had the will; it could live forever. Hence it is extremely rare for a Green Lantern to die, and while it does happen. The event is rare, however, a pathway back is possible. See White or Black rings...

The Yellow Ring (bad): It is simply the Green Ring, the power of the ring feeds of the fear of those who oppose it. Primarily a weapon made to defeat Green Lanterns. But because Green Lantern have no fear or limited fear the ring can be powered by the wearer. Like the Green Ring and because it feeds on the opposition, it has very little strain on the wearer. It truly is the Green ring with the slightest strain on the wearer. These beings are the closest bad guys to the Green Lanterns and can be seen working with the Blue Lanterns often taking advantage of the Blue Lanterns, but the Yellow Lanterns are very convincing diplomats.

Agent Orange (bad): LarFleeze is basically the only Orange Lantern. While there are others they are used only when he needs them once they are no longer needed he strips them of their power. He is of greed and refuses to share his power. While the red ring is further from the center, this emotion has the most drawn affect on one particular being, for even Hal grabbed the Orange Battery once and it consumed him. Who knows maybe the future features a combine effort of at least one Lantern from each of the other corps to take down LarFleeze, but be warned if one touches this Battery they could become consumed...Should be the farthest from the center...

The Red Ring (bad): The Red ring is the ring of rage. These guys are at odds with everyone, loners basically. And while the Orange ring has the devastating effect on the wearer. This one is further from the center which simply means to leave the ring one must give its life up. The red ring requires great rage, which means it acts upon the wearer, and if the wearer wasn't so blinded by rage these guys would take down the Green lantern corps, but because their focus is rage, and even the bad guys don't like these guys it is hard for them to establish themselves outside of their lone sector. There are ways of cleansing the soul, of the rage...These guys have no friends outside of each other...

The Black Ring (bad): This ring is the opposite of the white ring in every way but one and that is it is further from the center but it doesn't drag on dead souls. Because there is no soul, that said Some are returned to a zombie state and if they were a force for good and are able to break through the dark soul they can return to the living and be a force for good once again. These guys can raise the dead, this is what makes them deadly, and because they can power zombies what damage could they do if Le Luthor were to die, or Darkseid, and you put a ring in the hands of a dead Darkseid, although one can't see Nekron approving of that. This might be the truest reason of all reason Green Lantern/Guardians do all they can to avoid killing any being/entity.

Note that just because the ring is good or bad doesn't mean the wearer can't change his spots, with the Green lanterns there is a governing body that can stripe a Green Lantern if he goes rogue. The Guardians would have to bring send a team to bring in the rogue Green Lantern and he would be brought before a trial. I can only assume this would be the case with other Lantern corps, except LarFleeze. The single most POWERFUL LANTERN of them all because he Battery power is only used by him. At times he will give his battery power to others for only a short period. Larfleeze rarely engages any other members of the Lantern corps for fear of someone taking his power. He is reclusive but he is very powerful.
