They possess power rings capable of creating constructs characterized by their will and strength to use it. Each Green Lantern is given a Sector of the Universe to protect and it is their priority to suppress any threat against their sector.

    It seems that according to a recent report made by The Hollywood Reporter, production on the upcoming 'Green Lantern' movie has been delayed due to the poor economy and a weak dollar! 
     

     The falling U.S. dollar has forced Warner Bros. Pictures to reassess the viability of shooting a number of projects in several countries, after confirming Friday that its pulling production of Green Lantern out of Australia.
    The studio said that "the current global economic situation, including fluctuations in currency valuation and overall costs," forced the decision, in a statement issued through agency Screen NSW.


     
    However, just because production on the upcoming film has been moved out of Australia; does not mean that we will not be seeing any at all. More than likely the cast and crew will move filming to either Mexico or Canada to film. With all of the news revolving around Marvel's upcoming film projects like 'Thor,' Iron Man 2' 'The Avengers,' and 'Captain America,' it should come as no surrise to anyone that Warner Brothers is under heavy pressure to begin building their own franchises. The 'Green Lantern' movie has been scheduled to premiere in theater's in Summer 2011, directed by Martin Campbell (Casino Royale) and starring Ryan Reynolds. 
     
    Are you looking forward to a 'Green Lantern' movie? Do you feel that since they have not even started filming, that the film may not make it's Summer 2011 release?

    I know this is getting drawn out, but they still don't want to rush anything.  The film could be huge, but not if they fast-track it and are lazy with post production.

    I hope it's coming out in Summer 2011 because then there are three movies for me to look forward to in summer of 2011. Green Lantern, Thor, and Transformers 3.

    the Oz dollar is forecast to keep going up to 96 cents (currently around 90 cents) by mid 2010 and theyu are talking possible parity. 6 months ago its was 65 cents, or something. so you can see why they've made the decision to scrap hauling the whole production to the other side of the World. i read that they are looking to go to Louisiana to film.
     
    me? i'm happy, being in Oz, my comics are cheaper.

    Im a massive Green lantern fan. Specially Hal Jordan. Now this has been the second delay i have seen. Wasnt it originally gunna go out in 2010. I guess this will give them more time to make it that much better. If they dont then shame on them. I just want it to come out. Austrailia you say. Well thats news to me

    I am excited, the Blackest Night serious really got me into him and I've started back tracking. It will probably move to Canada, they always make way for big blockbuster movies. As far as release date goes, I am sure it will, filming took about 6 months for Iron Man didn't it? Editing it won't take much longer than that, though it will be very special effects laden.

    The canadian dollar is doing really well right now, if they cant afford austrillia i have a hard time seeing them film in canada. But maybe you never know.
