Review: Green Lantern Emerald Warriors #9

Hal, John, Guy, and Kyle head underground to sneak towards the power battery, but they end up finding the Guardians' secret stash.

    The Good

Do you like terrible comics? If so, turn away. Lot of cool little Guardian secrets in this issue, and a lot of it just hanging out in the background. The 2814 Lanterns are still donning their non-green rings, but I love the situation they've fallen into. They work great as a team, and frankly, they work pretty darn well in their perspective corps.

Guy Gardner is cocky as ever, but he has taken on a bit more of a leadership role in this issue. Aside from Guy being super-awesome, we get to meet a mysterious, and most likely ancient, Green Lantern beast. He looks pretty sweet and I hope we get to see more of him in the future.

This book has a cliffhanger ending that is going to lead into a pretty epic and brutal battle in issue 66 of Green Lantern. Although this is already part 6 of the War of the Green Lanterns, it has yet to bore me or slow down. It's pure awesomeness.

    The Bad

I loved everything about this issue.

    The Verdict

Part 6 of the War of the Green Lanterns delivers. While the issue isn't action packed, it has enough crazy Guardian secrets to keep you glued to the edge of your seat from start to finish. The 2814 Lanterns work so well together on the page thanks to the amazing writing of Peter Tomasi, and the art pops of the page thanks to the team of Fernando Pasarin, Cam Smith, and Gabe Eltaeb. I know I've said this before, but I'm going to say it again... You really should be reading this story line. It is phenomenal!

War of the Green Lanterns has really found its momentum now as it continues rolling strong in this issue. Peter Tomasi's previous chapter may have been dragged down by some awkward and forced scenes, but he nails it this time with the four formerly Green Lanterns digging their way into Oa's buried secrets.Tomasi really captures the dynamic of these four characters. They are all equals, and there is really no leader here. Hal Jordan is so focused on the main target that he wants them to charge ri...

      Approach it from below 0

With the same sort of slow pace going on so far in this story arc, the story here doesn't really disappoint, though its execution is a little stunted.  The Earth Green Lanterns escape under Oa to find that they are divided on how to approach the problem, either to go after Mogo or to go after the Central Power Battery.  They decide to go for the battery but make some interesting discoveries en route.  There is not as much action in this issue, focusing instead on the plot more, and when it does ...
