Oliver Queen was a spoiled, thrill-seeking playboy, until he was left stranded on a deserted island for several years. There, he trained to become a master archer in order to survive. After his return home, he used his new-found skills and his wealth to became the costumed vigilante known as Green Arrow.
If you are really interested I recommend getting the Green Arrow Secret Files and Origins one-shot. In that issue GA tells a story about how he hit a target about a foot wide from over 200 yards away with a bow meant for close range shooting. It's a very cool story!
Green Lantern #84 Peril in Plastic, Green Arrow is standing on a boat He shoots Hal is powerring the arrow goes between his fingers from really far away so they can fight blackhand.
@Final Arrow: Thats not a feet. Green Arrow taking out ZH Parallax is up there in the greatest displays of PIS/WIS of all time.
Also, am I the only one who hated Cry for Justice and the Rise and Fall of Arsenal? Seemed like lousy, contrived, shock based writing through and through to me.
@revamp: That was in reference to when they first met. Roy was in the care of a Native American. Brave Bow I think. Ollie asked Roy to display his skill by shoot an eagle from the sky. Roy said he couldn't, meaning he didn't want to waste a life. Ollie said he just wanted the tail feather for his hat but it was too far now. With this knowledge he took aim and fire. t looked like a miss and Ollie commented it was a tough shot. Roy orunning and retrieved the tail feather that fell to the ground.
