If you've been watching Arrow, you know that Ollie hasn't been using a mask. He's been putting on the makeup or face paint around his eyes and pulls his hood down low. I've always joked that applying all that makeup, or removing it, adds unnecessary time that could compromise his secret identity. It does look like he won't have to apply as much.

Stephen Amell Tweeted the following image from an upcoming cover to Entertainment Weekly showing the addition of a mask.

What are your thoughts on the mask? It does give him more of a 'superhero' look rather than the gritty street vigilante. But more importantly, how would he have time to apply all that makeup when lives are in danger and a quick change is needed?

They could probably incorporate night vision / thermals / etc into the mask at some point too. W

Looks pretty cheesy in the light, but it probably works better in the dark and with the hood's shaddow.

Ever since Marvel announced that deal with Nexflix, Dc had to counter with something. Giving Arrow a mask is to combat the onslaught that Marvel is gonna bring. Iron Fist, Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Drew, and a Defenders Tv show.

Yeah, Dc you better strap up.... Cause all you got is this show and Jim Gordon in the works. Marvel is gonna own you in the Tv entertainment side as well.

Lmfaoo WHAT? Marvel shows are going straight to netflix. Dc announced a couple of shows before Marvel. Agents of sheild alrady sucks so i see no real threat if they go the comedy route.

@vincethekid: Could you be more wrong? DC had also announced a Constantine, Flash, and Hourman show BEFORE Marvel announced its Netflix plan. We haven't even seen the DC response to that yet. DC will continue owning Marvel in the TV world for the forseeable future especially if SHIELD shows what theyre capable of.

Looks silly, but then any mask that obscures a person's face less than a pair of aviators would. Ah well, comics everybody.

He still has eye-make-up, so now he has that and the mask to put on during emergencies :P

It's about damn time he got a mask. The questionable practicality of the makeup was sometimes too much to bare.

Too bad they didn't give him a stylish mask. Some kind of techno-goggles would have been nice. This mask looks too cheap.
