G.I. Joe the Fall of Expectations

G.I.Joe the Rise of Cobra  Review

    the Story
James McCullen and the Doctor are forming weapons and armies with the nanomite technology that they created.  The nanomite technology that they created are capable of destroying entire cities.  Trying to create a new world order, they threaten the use of the nanomites onto the world if their demands are not met.  In comes the Joes who are Earth's last defense.

    the Good
Ray Park and Sienna Miller were awesome in their roles.  Miller definitely stole the show as Baroness, however, Park stole my heart as Snake Eyes (major Snake Eyes fanboy lol).  Miller had the sex appeal, the vigor, the attitude and the talent to pull off Baroness...although I did not like how she was written, particularly the whole aspect of her being the former flame of Duke.  Ray Park did a phenomenal job as Snake Eyes, granted he doesn't speak, the action scenes we're really superb and thats partly due to Park's skills as a martial artist, he definitely had the chops to pull it off.  Honorable mentions goes to Lee who did great as Storm Shadow and Rachel Nichols for her fighting scene with Sienna Miller.  The fight scenes between Storm Shadow and Snake Eyes and Baroness and Scarlett we're probably the best in the movie.  I also want to add that Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Cobra Commander was pretty surprising, I remembered him being the scrawny-funny kid in 3rd Rock From the Sun, so I was skeptical if he could pull off being the big bad in G.I.Joe, but it wasn't too bad.

    the Bad
Casting was mostly all wrong.  Channing Tatum as Duke was just awful, his acting and look just doesn't fit Duke at all.  Ripcord was an awful comedic character, I found him to be slightly annoying rather than funny. (Although I could just be mad that he and Scarlett were getting chummy and being the Snake Eyes fan that I am, that wasn't flying with me lol)   Karolina Kurkova may be a model, but she's no Cover Girl (haha get it? lol).  Models shouldn't act, they should just look good, and Karolina couldn't even do that as Cover Girl!

The Story as a whole was just bad.  The script, the directing, just everything about this story was awful.  Being a Joe fan for so long, I expected much more, but man...I was just disappointed.  The character lineup for this movie was also kinda disappointing, I wanted to see Flint, Lady Jaye, Roadblock, etc. etc.   I'm pretty sure anyone can tell with my crappy story summary that I was just completely underwhelmed and uninspired by this movie's story.

The Costumes.  I hated Cobra Commander's costume.  I hated that Zartan didn't have his signature face paint as well, granted he is a master of disguise and was disguised through most of the movie, I just wished that at least they would give him that look during the raid on the Joes base.  The whole G.I.Joe team costume look was awful, I really wished they stuck to their individual looks.

    the Rating
    I gave this movie a 2.5.

While I am thrilled that G.I.Joe was made into a movie, and that this movie breath in some new life into the G.I.Joe brand, tt was passable at best. Channing Tatum as Duke...and one of the Wayans brothers as another lead character?  I really question the casting on this...but on the flip side Sienna Miller and Ray Park were awesome in this movie.  While I did feel that this movie had more negatives than positives, i would still recommend it if you have the time to spare.

If you want a real good G.I.Joe movie, check out the animated short G.I. Joe Resolute, which has been compiled into a movie.

At first I didn't think that I would enjoy the movie. I had my doubts on the cast. These are tough characters to pull off, so they needed to be believable above anything else. I walked into the theater expecting a flop and left feeling a little pumped and ready for the next installment.  Hmmm... Did they really leave me wanting more? YUP they did, how cruel.   Snake Eyes was everything i hoped for and of course more, though he never said a word, he always had my full attention. His fight scenes...

      YEAH VIOLENCE! 0

Well first off let me say that I've never been too much of a G.I. Joe fan, I mean I would watch that cartoon ever now and then but I never got the toys. But I did want to see this movie and well I suppose that since I didn't know much about the series it made it good. This movie excells because of it's violence and also Snake-Eyes, he is pretty much the coolest character in that movie. So one thing I had a problem with (it wasn't a huge problem) was with the advance tech. I mean sure it takes pl...
