I think all the X-Men cartoons were pretty bad to be honest. The X-Men films, with the exception of 2 of them, have all been good and have impacted the comic franchise greatly.

Each show tried to do something original that ended up not sitting well with me. The biggest d*ck move is putting colossus and deadpool in the end credits of the anime xmen and having him not appear at all. what so ever
The movies are much better than the cartoons.
I liked Wolverine and the X-Men a lot, but they canceled it when Disney bought Marvel. It never got a chance to develop into something truly good.
X-men films:
X-Men: OK. 90s X-men cartoon:
X2: Perfect. Best Marvel cartoon ever.
X3: Worst.
Origins:Wolverine: worst.
Last Stand: Stupid.
Wolverine:Below 4.5/10.
Days of Future Past:Great Great movie.
Deadpool:Best.
Winner:
Cartoon.No question.
Movies.
Cartoon in the 90s was hurt by censorship(was still great at the time tho) and X-Men Evolution was not for me. Wolverine and the X-Men was more of a Wolverine cartoon then a X-Men cartoon. With the exception of Origins and Last Stand the movies have all been great.
Definitely the cartoon. The Cartoon stayed relatively true to the source material, the producer (i believe) who worked on the TAS was a fan of the comic and it showed through the product. Bryan Singer and all the derivatives from the movie. Not so much. The movies pale in comparison to the cartoon.
Movies.
I watched X-Men the Animated Series a little bit when I was a kid and the movies as they came out on television or DVD but I didn't really become a X-Men fan until I started reading the comics. After getting into the comics I went and rewatched some of the old cartoon episodes and it just didn't seem that good anymore. On the other hand, knowing the comic charecters makes the movies more enjoyable for me.
Both are good. Movies are better.
Cartoons definitely. I didn't care too much for the one in the 90s, but X-Men Evolution got me hooked to the team. Plus it also completely omitted any Jean, Cyclops, Wolverine love triangle which was a big relief. I think they also did a good job with Mystique and her relationships with Kurt, Rogue, and Destiny.
Cartoons by far IMO. The first Xmen movie was historical because we had been teased for years and finally they made a movie, the second was better, the third was all over the place and then First Class and DoFP happened and I was over Xmen movies, they both sucked to me, not looking forward to the next film, but the fan in me will see if the local bootleg guy has it when it's released and if I like it I'll go pay to see it to show support, but I don't have high hopes. I thought I'd never live to say this, but Marvel movies are better IMO, and this is from a guy that doesn't care for the Avengers or any of it's core members at all in the comics.
The 90's animated series holds a special place in my heart, although the last season was phoned in hard :(
Didn't care too much for Evolution and WATX just seemed flat, even though the future scenes were cool.
As far as the movies are concerned, X1 and X2 are stellar for when they came out. X3 is bad, but luckily it's been erased from continuity due to the First Class prequels. I do think FC made some unusual choices considering the source material, but having signed a rising star in Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, they had to jolt up her screen time and I get that. DOFP was spectacular and I'm chomping at the bit for Apocalypse!
I would love to see a cartoon geared to adults like some of DC's Batman animated movies.
Best Cartoon: X-men TAS (90s)
Best Movie: X-men Days of Future Past
Worst Cartoon: X-men Anime... The voice acting was garbage.
Worst Movie: Wolverine Origins
Both for different reasons...
Cartoons are awesome when they come up.with their own tales and they can create a more intricate universe in 3 episodes then a movie series can in 2 films.
The movies though are big dramatic action pieces that have to still be wrapped up by the end of the 2hr mark. Like it or not all but one of the cartoons was canceled and TAS was more a episodic clip show then its own universe with consequences....a single movie can build and deliver dramatic tension quicker then a cartoon which has to hit so many more bases to be good.
I prefer the movies. I liked the cartoon in the 90's, but that is it. I didn't even watch the last cartoon.
X-Men TAS was a good adaptation and very similar to the comics.
X-Men movies are terrible adaptations and nothing like the comics.
Cartoons Win.
this right here.

You listed X3 twice and forgot First Class, which was a critically acclaimed movie.
@invain: Yeah I forgot about First Class. Well it is on the level of Wolverine for me so 4-5/10. I said X-Men 3 and X-Men 2 but I wrote X2 and X3. I didn't say X3 two times.
My vote is for the movies as they have been so much more influential.
The 90s series did a great job of summarising most of the good comic arcs, buf it didn't add anything new. Evolution brought some new ideas but it was pitched at a younger target market. Wolverine and the X-Men is just a Wolverine show.
@thunderscream: i agree.. i wish the cartoons were geared towards adults..

X3 is X-Men: The Last Stand.
@invain: Oh right.I know Last Stand is X3.I wanted to say First Class.
