what are the essential wonder woman comics to pick up.

there are a couple of new characters I want to read about one of which is wonder woman. so I need to know were to start and what comics I should read.

@kcomicfan: well the new 52 WW is a great place to start i also herd the perez run is pretty good

@kcomicfan: the New 52 essentials are the solo series, Justice League and Superman/Wonder Woman. Pre-Crisis you should start with the Perez years as everything after Perez is based on his revamp of the character in 1987 ... I'd recommend the first 2 arcs he wrote to get a good basis for the character. Other popular writers who followed Perez would be Bryne, Jiminez, Rucka, and Simone ... All had various runs that are worth reading that pre-date the New 52 Azzarello run.

Obviously her history goes much further back, but unless you are up for some very old fashioned comic fair from the 1940's I wouldn't call anything Pre-Crisis "essential reading" to today's existing character ... But some of the stuff from the 1940's Wonder Woman, Sensation Comics, All Star Comics and Comic Cavalcade is easy to get ahold of and amusing to read.

The four writers that I would recommend to read first are: Rucka,Perez,Marston,Azzarello.

I believe all of them did Wonder Woman justice in their own way. You can start with whoever you want.
