Give it a chance fans.
Female Thor will be great
... Maybe, if it will be Thor's chance be bad ass without Mjölnir. I would love to see him using his powers without it.
I've said this so many other places but I'll say it again here
I'm excited about this....Jason Aaron has been writing a fantastic book since issue one and I have no reason to doubt him now...plus the new Thor's design is awesome!

That was my first thought that he'd be without the hammer and still kick ass. I also think people are also blowing this way out of proportion without even seeing where they're going with these characters and the older character they are "replacing". All I see is "There is a new cap! **** Marvel!" or "There is a new Thor! **** Marvel!" This isn't Wally West where they're changing the existing character while retaining the name these are new or existing characters stepping into the mantel while the others are still off doing their own thing. Unless you actually see where they are going with these characters they're complaining for no reason.
Oh and if it wasn't obvious. I'll wait and see if it's any good before I hate it.
I hope so and I am excited for it. I just hope its not permanent and that Thor's current series isn't canceled. I also think her using Thor's name is horrid but whatever. Thor is a god, and a mans name. Some chick can't just be Thor. She can be worthy like Thor, but shouldn't actually pretend to be Thor. But whatever, I'm still hyped.
I'm especially excited to see what Thor does to lose mjolnir and what will happen to fake female Thor when he eventually gets it back
I disagree, they could have taken Thor in so many other directions that had/have promise. OKT, Thor the Destroyer (necro), young Thor. Thor leaving Oklahoma. Instead he gets a fuc**ing sex change.
No he didn't. It's a new character going by the title of Thor. Not a genderbent Thor.

That is my problem with it at the moment.

Pretty much on board. However I will give it a chance since I have really enjoyed what Aaron has done on his run. Honestly, I would prefer to see a Sif book. But hey I'm going to try to stay positive :)
Axel Alonso, Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief: She wields the hammer because Thor can’t. This is different because for reasons we can’t disclose quite yet, Thor is unable to pick up the hammer. There are a number of women in Thor’s life, and we’re going to tease out for quite awhile the identity of who this woman is. But one of the women in Thor’s life picks up the hammer. She is in fact worthy. And she becomes Thor.
There’s only one Thor in the Marvel Universe. The character we know as Thor will not refer to himself as Thor anymore
Those are words from marvels editor in chief. That scares me
@jayc1324: As does it I. Who is he then Donald Blake or another old alias or what?
Alonso also said that for the foreseeable future, this is Thor. That sounds to me like the actual Thor is gonna be out of the picture for a while. I'm slowly starting to change my opinion. It sounds like we are going to be seeing less of Thor. I really hate it when marvel and dc thinks its a good idea to take away our heroes from is and replace them with someone else. They say that they think its a good story worthy putting out when really its just clichéd and overdone. They are only doing this because they want more female leads which makes it even worse.
@jayc1324: I won't go that far until I actually read the title. Would be cool if they sort of did it like Hawkeye and have them switch of from Thor and Fem-Thor on what they're doing.
I'll give it a chance. Though, I'm curious about what Thor could do that's so horrible that he has his title stripped from him?
The female warrior superhero thing is generic and has been done to death with much better characters she hasn't even been released im counting down the days till shes dead so they can get their writers working on original ideas more original ideas please marvel. With the female thor, elderly steve and dead wolverine ive got a feeling their gonna take a big dip in sales marvel needs to get its writers working on the next secret invasion or civil war not this crap
@son_of_simba: the male warrior superhero thing has been done to death much more often.
Okay someone make sense of this for me please. What's gonna happen with TGOT series? A female Thor is taking over that series? Are they gonna get rid of the original Thor all together? What about original sin ? Is there getting a sex change or is someone taking over for him? Will he lose all his powers or just his hammer ? Smh this really ruined my day . First captain America changes in his shield for diapers , wolverine dying & now Thor is a women? I'm done with marvel , their sales are gonna drop so fast smh
@milokill: erm no it hasn't dizzy. Theirs about 50 female warrior superheroes in every comic company. Its just a sad attempt to compete with wonder woman comics and that audience clearly. she doesn't even look that great she looks like a shameless ripoff of hawkgirl. The didn't even mention what purpose they had for introducing her other than the fact that the wanna shoe horn in a women which is pathetic and reeks of desperation when shes dead and retconned ill begin reading thor again till then ill read wonder woman or maybe guardians of the galaxy

Thor will still be alive he will just be unworthy and replaced with hawkgirl 2.0 for a while
I'm not really fond of the idea of a male/female counterpart of another character, anyways. That just seems to me like a cookie clutter and a rip off of an original.
@son_of_simba: so you're saying that female warrior superheroes, like female Thor, are boring and trite but male ones like male Thor and Hawkman are always new and innovative? Uh, ok....

No im saying the idea itself is boring creating a female version of an a list hero who happens to be a warrior in a sad attempt to compete with wonder woman and for the record no hawkgirl is about a billion times cooler and more interesting than hawkman. Its clearly not for story purposes so the sooner characters like this die the sooner we can get some fresh ideas from marvel that dont invole rehashing a superhero every year or two the whole female clone of an a list superhero has been done to death and far better as well their shoe horning a women in just purely for the sake of having a women in their the writers obviously a hack female cosplayers have something to get excited about but thor fans do not
@son_of_simba: hawk girl 2.0 lol . Think will still keep his natural powers ? & wtf will he go by ? Lol
@son_of_simba: hawk girl 2.0 lol . Think will still keep his natural powers ? & wtf will he go by ? Lol
I believe thor will be a side character with his own subplot story line in hawkgirl 2.0's comics about him being unworthy not sure if he will have powers at all though i guess the idiot writers failed to acknowledge the fact that thor is a name not a tittle and a guys name at that

This. And also writers seems to forget that after Doctor Strange combined Thor's life-force to Mjölnir it shouldn't be able to serve anyone else...

Yeah this is the beginning of the end for marvel at least for the comics. The future for marvel is looking very bleak its looking very irreverent like its in dire straits if this is the direction they wanna go taking thor one of their best characters and going generic af with hawkgirl 2.0 they shouldn't have not bothered even publicly announcing it on the view they should of shut down the show lol because all they did here is they really disappointed me. and they disappointed allot of marvel fans.
i won't be quick to judge like others i will read it and see whats it about before i pass judgement.
I'm happy to see them give it a shot, but like others I'm confused because "Thor" isn't really a mantle like "Captain America" or even "Spider-Man". It's the dude's name. And dude is still going to be around so...I'm confused. They should have done something like what they did with female Loki i they wanted to try this.
But that's just nit picking the name on my part. I still love legacy characters, and if the lady wants to call herself "Thor", sure. Just a little odd in context.

After mulling it over some more I am starting to sway as well. For me, it's not the same Thor. Sure he was even a frog at one point but it's not as if people look back upon that fondly or as one of the best Thor moments ever.
As other people have suggested, it may be more palatable if the story line was far into the future and Thor passed the mantle, so to speak, to one of the granddaughters, that I could get behind. Like I said before, I think a Sif book would have been better!
Thor is taken from Norse mythology, and it that mythology, Thor is a man. I see it as simple as that. However, given that this is all just fantasy, anything can be conjured, twisted, or distorted. That leaves you with two simple choices: pay your money and enjoy the book as best you can or decide not to hand over your money for whatever reason you feel. I mean come on, the pull list has to start decreasing at some point!
I think Marvel is a little drunk with their own creativeness. They saw how well Superior Spider-Man dis and probably think they can take the principle character out of any of their main titles and substitute a replacement and it will work again. While I will admit Superior Spider-Man was good I have serious doubts about doing this again, but it remains to be scene what will happen.

I agree, I wasn't totally excited about the Superior Spider-man, but I ended up enjoying how they made him. This though is bad... I thought once I had Peter Parker and Hal Jordan back I'd be fine but yet another one of my beloved characters is being taken away. She's going to be a complete rip off of Wonder Woman, why not just bring a classic norse chick back like Valkyrie?

I love this post haha.

I'm hoping they use this as an opportunity to explore his Elder God heritage. I know Marvel seems to forget but he is the biological son of the Elder Goddess Geia who is basically the living spirit of the Earth. I think its about damn time they actually explored that.
Just going to point out...it's been a long time coming but Disney has always wanted to attract the pre-teen girl market.
I just never thought they would use the God of Thunder to do it. Seems I remember Jason Aaron tried to do the same thing with Ghost Rider and it flopped, no? Did I get that wrong?
I just don't see hyper-masculine characters easily transferring over to another gender.
Why does Marvel insist on doing stuff like this?
007 has used the same formula for decades now.
And in case Marvel studious isn't aware: the reason Thor is a popular character in the silver screen is because women like to look at his body.
Hmmm.
So, once again, Marvel cuts off it's nose despite it's face.
Mark my words: This book is going to flop.
I say don't judge until we see how they do it. I'm all for a great female superhero character, finally...
No it wont , Thor is not a women , we don't want to read about a women who can drink every man under the table ,then beat the crap out of all the other gods in a bar , then brag about her female conquest in bed , that's way to much Gender bending for fans of the god of thunder..
THIS IS A TOTAL FAIL MARVEL
