Thoughts On The New Super-Man Costume?
Ah, right from the dragons mouth lol. Thanks for sharing the link.
No problem. I also really like the costume, especially the shorter cape. I always feel like Superman should have a shorter cape than Batman.
i was plan on bashing it because i thought this was the replacement of the New52 Superman. but its a cool costume
Stick to Dark horse, Image, and Valiant guys if you want actual continuity guys and this is coming from a former DC fanboy.
The octagon looks too much like a stop sign and the color combination too much like a hero with pyrotechnic powers.
The design is good. Too much red though. Stressing to the eye. And the S shield is weird because it looks like a stop sign :P
It does look better colorwise in the cover than the promo art.
I'm fine with the red, the different shades are just enough to change it up imo.

Sure, I just don't like the rendering in the promo art. The cover looks better.
Eh

Yeah I agree with that. I wonder if the other guy on the cover is the Batman of China.

That's what I think too.

It's been a while so I don't remember if a Batman of China was ever mentioned in Batman Inc but I think he might be it.
This is cool. I'm wondering how he gets his powers. Kenan was a normal 17 year old kid right? I'm assuming it has something to do with the death of N52 Supes.
I actually really like it. I think this could give some of my asian family a Superman-like hero to look to now as well.
Also, this may be a coincidence but the name and costume design remind me of Bob Kane's Bat-Man design.
I'm curious about the statement. Did your Asian family members not look up to the traditional take on Superman?

I believe the story is setting up China making their own JL. So it's possible.
Also, I believe to answer the question of a Batman of China, I thought Cassandra Cain was placed their as Black Bat pre-Flashpoint?
Personally, I like the idea of an Octognal shield, but I dislike the color red, so I'm not 100% behind this.
Wait, Chinese Superman, when did that happen?
And Superman died?
SUPER LEAGUE, the current saga... It seems he is to be part of an experiment as superboy, his posible Creator stole superman blood recently..
Yes, he dead(¿temporally? I don´t know..).. For the STUPID TRUTH, JL DARKSEID WAR.. and for his battle with Rao.. Seems his death is in July..
But this guy isn´t the replacement.. The substitute is the superman of the former continuity(a more older superman), in ALL Superman Comics...
Things of Rebirth... According to your preferences you will see him or not. Or you will see and if you do not like, you leave him...

I'm not entirely sure what point you are trying to make.

Yeah not sure why it's shocking to hear that some people are more interested in a character who is of the same culture (or similar) to them than one who is not.

I guess I was curious. This reminded me of a conversation I had with another writer. I'll spare the details, but it boiled down to us coming to the conclusion that the content of a person's character and what they did was more what we connected to compared to the culture.
To say, I never had a problem relating to Clark despite being from vastly different backgrounds. I suppose, without me knowing much of anything about KK just yet, I can't say if I'm more or less interested in him as a person, than I am as a concept. Though, I realize that people are different and have different likes and sensibilities. I was just asked to satiate my own curiosity.
@stahlflamme: If it worked for both of thouse characters why not for this one?
@jonny_anonymous: I'm just saying I won't think of Superman when I see the guy. I'll probably think he is a new Shazam design.
Only the S seems off. I'd preferred that it looked more like the symbol for Chi.
Also it looks a lot like Mon-El suit. The colors are basically the same, even the design is similar.
@heavenlydarkdragon: You mean a yin yang? That would be strange. Like an American Superman flying around with a crucifix as his badge.

This doesn't sound even the least bit racist to you?
Yeah. That.
If you Google "gold Superman-Prime" and check out the S symbol on his chest. It does hold similarities with the yin-yang symbol.
No. But for whatever reason you did.
I said Chi, not Ki. Ki is Japanese. Chi is Chinese. But they both represent the same.
The New Superman is chinese and the stories from what I've read are gonna happen in Xangai. Xangai is in China. So again where's the racism?
Is it racist to want to see cultural details in this character suit?
Google "gold Superman-Prime" and check out the symbol on his chest. And tell me that doesn't have similarities with the yin-yang symbol.
Racist... Give me a break.
@heavenlydarkdragon: I'm surprised you didn't say he should have a conical hat too. You know, for the authenticity.
The stars on the side remind me the Chinese flag. The heavy use of red, black and gold makes me think this is a what Superman's costume would look like if a Chinese comic made their own version of Supes. Otherwise, I really like it. It's a big departure from the traditional costume.
@heavenlydarkdragon: I'm surprised you didn't say he should have a conical hat too. You know, for the authenticity.
Nah... What surprised you was that I called your BS and showed that you had no reason whatsoever.
Next time think before writing something.
I don't like the S symbol, other than that it's ok.
Agree.
Something more along the lines of this, would be better...
The two symbols resembling the yin-yang, with the center forming the S.

Your post doesn't even make sense. You never showed anything at all. Where is your logical reasoning? Are you 14 years old? Is it BS to be offended by racism? I suppose that would make sense to someone so incredibly insensitive to cultures aside from his own. You think an Asian character should have stereotypical Asian themes. Hello? Would you please join us in 2016, where racists at least pretend to be culturally sensitive. What is even more offensive is that you are completely ignorant to just how offensive your thought process is. Should he also be good at math? Should he know martial arts? Should he speak only in broken English? Would that make you happy? Should he only fight with chop sticks? Should Luke Cage only speak in jive? Would you like to see more Tyroc?
The only person who is spouting BS is you and your covertly racist way of thinking. IF we are going to talk about people thinking before posting, how about practicing what you preach? It doesn't seem like you put a whole lot of thought into your initial post, nor have you really thought through your follow up posts, other than the energy you put into overly aggressive replies. You can't brow beat your way out of clearly racist thinking. You are not Trump... or are you?
Great another one psychologically projecting himself onto me.
Look. All I pointed out was that the S symbol looks aweful and that it might be cooler to apply the S configuration that can be formed from the yin-yang symbol. That was used by Superman-Prime.
To want to see some cultural details included is not racism.
But you see racism everywhere. Maybe because of both of us you're the real racist and your psychologically projecting onto me.
Don't know what psychological projection is? Google it and learn something.
You brought the racist part for fun, or maybe because you're bored and have nothing better to do.
Maybe you're the one that lacks the mental aptitude to understand what racism really is or you would have dropped this nonsense about racism.
Talking about racism and cultural diversity... When most likely you couldn't even point my country in a map.
So far you've been very good with BS reasons of racism. But you always avoid talking about the real issue here.
Where is the racism in adding cultural details to a character?
Have you ever read anything about characters like Katana, Guy Gardner, Firehawk, Ice, Fire, Brick, John Constantine, and many others filled with cultural clichés and references, but still I don't see you rant about them.
What's gonna be next? Superwoman? When I write about her I'll be waiting for you to call me chauvinistic.
Seeing you're so quick to call someone you know nothing about a racist and keeps doing so just for fun. Then I can expect everything from you from this point on, right?
