I kind of don't like how S.H.I.E.L.D. has become like the FBI, I like it better when they are more like G.I. Joe, a more old school secret military group of awesome. I also really miss classic Fury. I think it's kind of stupid that he's now a Watcher, and they retconed him to be "The man on the wall".

Also nice suit Agent Geurrero, and nice effects on the video.

gah ... gotta be cold as ice to joke about HYDRA. Bucky's trapped inside himself, a winterized killing machine fighting his best friend, and it's all fun and games with hail this, hail that. What would Colonel Phillips say, if he were here, hmm ... "Let's go find two more heads!"

These are always a ton of fun, thanks Tony. That Baron Strucker's death page looks crazy brutal, don't know how I missed it.

Lookin' good, GMan! Snazzy editing in the video, too.

In what comic was it that SHIELD got disbanded the first time?

@bl00dwerk: Maybe S.H.I.E.L.D. hacked into the system.

Good Video. Diffrently, i hate shield. I thought they were ok when i got back into comics but have just grown tired of them being in almost everything thats going on in Marvel titles. I am not saying that they shouldnt be involved with everything that goes on in the Marvel universe i am just saying they shouldn't be present all of the time. I also didn't like how the Avengers have become subjugated by them. They are literally a shield unit as of now. Gone are the good days when the avengers fought the good fight. Now they fight the Legal fight sanctioned by the appropriate authorities. O well, I guess thats Marvel. Ill just appreciate the "Free" Justice League at DC.

I appreciate the words everyone. Andy Bauman did the editing. I just read a gazillion SHIELD comics and gathered the images. But now you all know why I didn't review as many books last week and why there won't be a Super Massive Podcast this week. We did this in a shorter time we've usually done in the past.

Huh. The sponsor's add I got for this was "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." season 2. How fitting.

This. Whatever happened to the James Bond-esque Nick Fury and the S.H.I.E.L.D. that hunted freaking Godzilla?

It must drive you crazy to read that many comics.

This will always be one of my favorite images from any comic. How does it get any better than Nicholas J Fury leading the charge of Howling Commandos with a giant gun and holding the American flag and the Statue of Liberty in the Background?

If you haven't read Secret Warriors, I would highly recommend it. I just re-read the series in the past week and it is one of my favorites. Great moments for Nick Fury and the Howling Commandos.

Where can I read more about SHIELD origins (2626 BC and the Da Vinci/Michelangelo)? That sounds really interesting!

@fubar20: Jonathan Hickman's S.H.I.E.L.D. Sadly the second mini was never complete. One issue was left. Both series are on Marvel Digital Unlimited.

I completely agree with this. It's more realistic that there'd be some sort of watchdog group involved with every superhero function, but still, it sort of saps the fun out of things.

And I don't think DC is any different these days. Ever since the New 52, it's been more or less the same way.

@pixel_kaiser: I have been following the new 52. I honestly never once got the impression that THE Justice League had any binding terms with any goverment. I know the government has there own JL team but its a knock off and i dont acknowlge them as anything "Offical". The Justice league fights the good fight and answer to no one.

I love these segments. Awesome Job G Man, and everyone else that worked on it. I honestly had no idea the "Hydra infiltrates Shield" storyline from Cap 2 was actually from the comics. Awesome stuff. And where did you get that Shield badge? That was a nice touch ;)
