Adult Swim Announces New Season of Samurai Jack

Adult Swim has announced Samurai Jack is back.

Genndy Tartakovsky, the creator and executive producer, will continue the epic story of Samurai Jack with a new season that will premiere on Adult Swim's Toonami block in 2016. The new season is currently in production at Cartoon Network's Los Angeles studio.

A super-short teaser has also been released.

@mfundroid: nope, I was like, 13 when it first came on, and not interested in it at all.

Samurai Jack has always been violent. Almost every episode would end with Jack killing assassins, bounty hunters, mercenaries and robot armies sent to kill him by Aku.

Phil Lamar was telling me how Jack was never officially canceled and how it never had an end on the show so it could be brought back. Glad it was.

Yes this is awesome news, I admit I haven't seen all episodes of Samurai Jack but what I have seen is enough to see this show was practically a masterpiece. Brilliant atmosphere, superb action, great tone and beautiful animation is what this show had in spades. That makes it all the better that it's coming back. Plus the battle boards should be interesting with this news.

They were mostly robots and cyborg, but there were some that were clearly human or alien that they had either blow up or fall over without any moaning after getting cut by his sword to get past the censors.

We both worship the right god I guess.

I loved this when it came out. It's so good to know we eill finally get an ending.

For censorship reasons they had to be mostly robots. But they would always gush oil in a very bloody manner when he killed them.

Only concern is who will voice Aku?

@titanbreaker: There'll be big shoes to fill from Mako's absence as the former voice of Aku. He could sound both sinister and cruel but also hilarious and goofy on a whim. Hopefully they find someone who can do something similar in that performance of Aku.

@lvenger: Might seem lazy but I would go to the man who replaced him as Iroh in Avatar. They sounded similar and I would prefer that than some brand new voice actor doing their own style.

YJ has been confirmed for a Netflix special in mid/late 2016.
