It was Midnight, June 6th, 1944 as two German soldiers stood at their posts at Omaha Beach. It was a quiet job, and as such, the Nazis stationed there tried their best to make the experience a bit less dull. Looking to the only other soldier within audible range of him, one Nazi stated, "Etwas kam heute mit der Post." To which the other sighed, rolled his eyes, and replied, humoring his fellow soldier, with "Was?" The soldier who had first spoken then replied with a volley of laughter, and a predictable retort in "Diese Nüsse! Hab ihn!" which warranted another sigh from the soldier on the receiving end. The other soldier's laughter, however, was silenced by the sound of a distant explosion, closely followed by another, louder explosion. These booms grew louder and louder until explosions were in visual range, and it became evident that they were being bombarded. "Hier finden Sie einige verdammt Deckel!" were the last words to be heard before a bombshell crashed into the ground nearby, killing both the soldiers and waking any who may have been sleeping at the time. The Invasion of Normandy had just begun.
It had been over six hours since the bombings began. The sun was just starting to come over the horizon. And suddenly, the crashing stopped. "Hören..." Erich Stachel stepped in front of his men with his arm bent at a ninety-degree angle and his fingers curled into a fist. The Wasp of Germany was in full SS Officer Uniform as his men fell silent and slowly lowered their weapons. The bombings had stopped. And that could only mean one thing. "Der Strand!" Stachel shouted, commanding the soldiers stationed under him to defend Normandy Beach.
