RPG Challenge: Character Swap

So, I had an idea that I thought could be fun. This may have been done before, but I haven't seen anything like it yet, so here it is.

The point of RPG is to build a story together, as a community, using a pretty huge variety of characters. It's a pretty unique way of writing, because a lot of what we do is supposed to build up other characters, rather than our own. Going off that theme, I thought it would be fun to challenge people to write a character they are unfamiliar with, namely another user's.

Rules are simple (thought if someone has a better way of doing it, lemme know your thoughts). If you are interested in participating in this experiment, please indicate your interest by posting in this thread. I'm gonna be doing this in groups of 4, so as soon as 4 people have posted I will issue you guys your challenge. As an example, let's say that our characters are Stuart, Joanna, Kelly and Abdullah (picked a bunch of random names)

• Player 1 (Stuart) and Player 2 (Joanna) will swap characters. Kelly and Abdullah will do likewise.
• Player 1 is now playing Joanna, Player 2 is Stuart, Player 3 is Abdullah and Player 4 is Kelly.
• However, if those pairs RPG together they'd just end up selling their own character, which kinda ruins the whole point of this challenge.
• To fix this problem, Players 1 and 3 will be paired together, as with Players 2 and 4.
• I will then issue both pairs their own situation, so for this example let's say 1 and 3 will be in a zombie apocalypse and 2 and 4 will be trying to solve a murder.
• Then everyone has fun and stuff.

So, you get to play as another user's character, whilst also writing with someone you might not usually get a chance to write with in a totally random scenario. From there, it's all up to you guys. I think it'd be safe to say anything that happens here is non-canon, but if you REALLY love what the other person did with your character, then you can make it canon if you like. You can have multiple games going at once if you feel like you can handle it, just specify which character you're playing at the start of each post.

Oooh, if I wasn't so loaded with things I'd probably be all over this! Maybe. I mean, I don't know who I could do well, and vice versa, but it's an interesting idea for sure. Plus he said murder mystery, and those can be fun.

People who aren't super busy, though, this could be cool.

What the heck is happening with this site, is it just me? Because my internet is going super shitty after an unexplained storm, which F^CKED UP MY PHONE LINE AND DIDN'T EVEN GIVE ME F&&&CKING SUPERPOWERS!!!!!!!

Also great idea, if you do a season two of this I'd love to jump in. :)

To clarify for those who are interested but concerned about time constraints, what I had in mind were small interactions, I'm not expecting people to write huge paragraphs about another person's character, it's just an opportunity to give your own personal spin on another person's character. The only really time consuming part would be reading the other person's bio to make sure you understand their character, haha

Righto, I'll throw my hat in the ring with you guys :)

Players 1 and 2 will swap, so Goliath is now playing Cain, and vice versa. Player 3 and 4 also swap, so I will be playing the Venator, becauseimanerd will be playing Orthos.

Team 1 (Players 1 and 3) - The Mall

Cain and Orthos arrive at opposite ends of a shopping mall at the request of a mysterious employer. Each of them know they are required to bring in a target, dead or alive, but neither of them know the identity of their target. As they enter the mall they are each handed a photograph with the other's face on it. The hunt is on! Will the two men battle to the death, or team up to take down their manipulative master? Tune in tomorrow to find out!

Team 2 (Players 2 and 4) - The Mushroom Kingdom

Goliath and the Venator wake up in a mysterious, pixelated world filled with walking mushrooms and giant turtles. An Italian plumber approaches the pair and explain that the princess has been kidnapped and that he needs their help to rescue her! Will the two of them work together to save the princess, or will they be too busy trying to kill each other? And while we're asking questions, how did they end up trapped in this video game in the first place? Will they ever escape? And how- GAME OVER - INSERT 25¢ TO CONTINUE.

[The Venator]

Waking up suddenly with no recollection of having fallen asleep, Elias instantly activated his power over time in his fit of panic. With time slowed down, he had time to breathe and compose himself, in addition to surveying his surroundings. As time resumed its normal pace he observed three important facts. Firstly, the world was far more colourful than it usually was, everything was sharp and high contrast. Secondly, he was being approached by a mustachioed fat man in a pair of dungarees. Thirdly, and most importantly, he was sitting next to a giant lizard.

It was set to be an interesting day.

That's very kind of you, I'm quite enjoying the character, just hard to figure out what to do with him. You have quite an interesting powerset yourself, you should use this account more often :)
