The Empire of Regalius

The Empire of Regalius is one of order, peace, and prosperity. Founded on the customs of old the people of the now destroyed Andromeda sought to build themselves a new home founded on those principles. This directly translates into the architecture and the style of the empire, based on the Retronus period of Architecture(the one used before the empire was destroyed) the capital city of Andromeda is filled with stunningly beautiful and grand buildings. Most construction is made from Marble and other fine resources.

The Wall of Prosperity

The wall surrounding the capital is one of the most prominent features as it frames the entire location. It’s semi star shape with four main points earned the city the nickname of the Four Points of Prosperity. The 90 ft tall Proadine wall serves primarily as a line of defense against the beasts of the outlands however, to those inside it is a symbol of hope and Prosperity. Due to the way the Regalius society functions those who live inside the walls are often met with prosperous lives compared to those exiled to the outlands.

The wall is regularly patrolled by the Sheathe and is equipped with four entrance/exit points. These are used to get the carrying convoy in and out of the city. Whether it’s a tourist convoy or a hunting convoy the process is still the same. There are two gates, the first opens allowing a convoy to enter a large and enclosed hallway. The door behind then sealed, the convoy decontaminated, and then another large door opens allowing them into the city.

The Capital City of Andromeda

The capital city of Andromeda is the pinnacle of the empire and for good reason. It’s buildings reach up and touch the skies, it is the home for people once homeless. It is protected, it is safe, and it is the last bit of home their race has.

The construction inside the walls is marvelous in that it cascades as you move further into the city. From the point of one of the four corners buildings are rather small one story homes however, as one moves closer towards the capital they grow taller, wider, and more complex. All leading to the center. This has led to the establishment of three districts, the Agricultural Districts, the Industrial District, and the Art District.

The Agricultural Districts

No Caption Provided

In each of the four points is where you will find what seems like an untouched by nature area however, it is all artificial. As a result of the Bio-Dome and Andromedean farming techniques the citizens of Regalius were able to establish an area devoted to growing a wide variety of flora. This ranges from Nighthawk trees (which turn polluted air from the industrial district into clean air) to Vegetables normally only found of Andromeda. The homes here are rather spaced out and are usually multi-family. It normally takes three families to support a single farm however, those farms produce the food to feed the entire nation though. Currently there are over 200 different farms in the Agricultural Districts combined.

The Industrial District

No Caption Provided

The Industrial District of Andromeda is located just past the Agricultural districts. Here is where most of the resources, clothing, food, and other commodities are made or processed. This is also where most of the people live and work, because of this there are very few actual houses. What you mainly have are four to ten story housing complexes mixed among the factories and workshops. These are usually made up of three bedroom condos for those who work in this district.

Unlike most industrial areas on Earth though, the Regalius Industrial area is a wonder in and of itself. It serves as a bridge between the superbly artistic architecture of the Art district and the more Rural architecture of the Agricultural districts. It is kept clean by street cleaners and window washers who ensure the area is as nice as possible. Atop some of the large buildings, that do produce pollution, are massive air filters that help reduce the amount of gas in the air. These air filters also push it towards the Nighthawk tree’s which then turn it into clean breathable air.

The Art District

No Caption Provided

Grand and wonderful the art district is the epitome of Retronus architecture. Massive buildings made from the finest marble with detailed sculptures carved into the sides. Large hanging gardens filled with some of the most beautiful flora in the empire. Walkways that are elevated above the crystal blue waters, crafted from the strongest crystal on Mars. The Art District is a place where creativity blooms and the decor shows this in full force. Located in the center of the city it is one of the most popular tourist destinations and home to not only the palace but, the Vers Core that powers the City as well as the Biodome generator.

The Biodome Generator

Located directly in the center of the Art district the Biodome generator is a massive set of twin spires that almost touch the sky. From between their points the biodome is produced and sent out to surround the city. This dome is what creates an Earth like atmosphere that allows the Andromedans to survive.(Read more about it in the Military and Technology Blog)

The Vers Core Maximus

The Vers Core Maximus is the largest vers core in the empire and is used as a primary source of power for the entire city. The water that flows through the Art district is in fact the same water produced and used by the massive vers core. Scattered throughout the city their are other smaller cores that are capable of powering each district should the Maximus go down.

The Palace

Located in front of the Biodome generator is the royal palace. This building is an homage to the original palace on Andromeda and the outside is lined with gold statues of it’s previous leaders. Located directly outside the main doorway is a statue of Alexander Cross holding hands with his with Mariana Cross.

Once you get through the main gate you are greeted by the main hall, wide arches and a high ceiling crafted from glass allow for sunlight to stream down providing natural lighting. The floor is a massive mural of the battle that occurred during the destruction of their planet made from individual small tiles. The walls are lined with solid gold plaques with the names of every man, woman, and child who died that day. There are over 50,000 plaques.

From the main hall there are two different hallways, one leads off into a private area where the bedrooms and such are kept. The other leads off towards the public bathrooms, the diplomatic meeting room, and the statue garden. If you keep going straight you are greeted with the throne room.

The throne room is a masterpiece itself. Large slabs of black marble make up the floor and steps leading up to the thrones. There are three thrones in total, the main throne crafted from gold, the empress's throne crafted from silver, and the prince's throne crafted from bronze. The emperor’s throne is located directly in the middle. Behind the throne stands a carving of the Sun and Moon sentinel fighting off a group of Darkspawn.

Society

The society of Andromeda is as it has been for years, a hybrid between communism and capitalism in which everyone is given the same opportunities to succeed but the paths they choose to take are their choice. They have their own religion which most everyone follows. At it’s core though they are a very military driven people. Soldiers are held in very high regards and they possess quite the large ground force however, the chances of them declaring war are very slim. As of right now they have regained a stable sense of happiness through laws and regulations, they aren’t willing to give it up to war just yet.

Economy

The Andromedean economy is founded on two very simple beliefs, the capital of the people leads to the growth of the economy and that you should be rewarded for doing the work you do. This has led to the founding of work laws which state that work is a required thing, choosing not to work leads to exile from the capital city(Being unable to work is a different story). All who work are given housing based on their job(if you’re a farmer you would live in the agricultural district, if your a blacksmith you would live in the Industrial district) as well as a regular wage to afford things like food and luxuries.

The primary form of currency on Andromeda is the Credit and a single credit is equivalent to 1.5 U.S. dollars.

Transportation

The primary mode of travel through Andromeda is the automobile, a concept taken directly from earth however improved upon to make it better for the environment. As of recently motorcycles have begun popping up thanks to the premier automobile company Undark. They make vehicles that are powered by Vers core’s and function much like the cars on Earth.

There are currently three manufacturers as of right now. Undark who creates luxury automobiles as well as luxury motorcycles, Epson who manufactures more affordable vehicles for the everyday man, and Divinus who manufactures military vehicles and public transportation.

Religion

Andromeda has always and will most likely always follow the religion of Pryafis. They practice the belief in the one true god Prya who created the universe in her own image. She created the Andromedeans in the image of her good and kind side while creating the darkspawn in the image of her evil side. There are many churches located around the city that can be used to learn more or even practice the religion.

Those who practice this religion tend to be very kind towards others. They hold themselves to high standards and are quick to condemn evil acts. They also believe that combat is required in defense of one's house and home only. This is why the empire rarely seeks to go to war with anyone as it is not a necessary time to perform combat.

Education

Education in Andromeda is one of the largest investments and is of an extremely high quality. The only way to increase the populous capital is to educate them after all. A complete education takes about 20 years at which time you are offered a lineup of starting jobs. After 10 more years you may choose to move up to a different position or stay where you are. This has led to a mostly happy population(of course there are those who shun the system.)

Education on one's body is also a very important and most children are taught from a young age that only producing a maximum of two offspring is the most beneficial way to prosper. The average age people begin having children is around forty(Andromedean equivalent to thirty).

Advancements in education have also led to increases in medical care, all citizens who work are given free health care. These advancements have lead to the life expectancy of the average citizen to become 110.

Tourism

Tourism is a very large portion of the Andromedean society, the people of Earth are all but welcome. The recent decline in racist sects has actually led to investments from the people into tourism. Located in some of the major cities on Earth are embassies that can get you a transport pass(it can also be done online). From that point you just simply travel to a launch site(usually located near airports) and head to Mars. You will land outside just outside the city where a convoy will escort you through the wall and into Andromeda. The trip usually takes two days but, to see the city is truly worth it.

OutLands

The Outlands makes up the entire region outside the capital city of the Regalius Empire. This area is home to fantastical and dangerous creatures, cave systems, underground water deposits and the like. Regular expeditions are launched into the area in an effort to bring back food and water as well as establish outposts near these resources.

These expeditions are incredibly dangerous as in the food chain the Andromedean people are not at the top.

No Caption Provided

Dragovoot-The Dragovoot is the apex predator of the Outlands and with good reason. The beast stands over 25 ft tall and weighs nearly 50 tons. It’s hide is incredibly dense, not even Andrast can pierce it. The good news is that this beast despises loud noises and won’t come near the Capital. However, from the sky bridge it is possible to see them rampaging in the distance

No Caption Provided

Sesitar- The Sesitar is one of the only creatures that could take down a Dragovoot, and that is when it’s in a pack. This creature is like a cross between a snake and a centipede, possessing an incredibly durable exoskeleton as well as a venomous bite. It is unknown how long one of these creatures can get as they are subterranean in nature and rarely come fully above ground. Usually they only show 15 feet of their body but, some have been recorded to show 30 feet. These creatures hunt in packs of five usually and only attack isolated or small packs of Viddea, this is why you would never see one inside the capital.

No Caption Provided

Viddea-A pack hunter similar to the Velociraptor the Viddea is the weakest of the carnivorous species discovered thus far. Their 5ft bodies are incredibly lean and muscular allowing them to move at speeds of 150 mph when in full sprint. They can jump over 15 ft and have claws able to tears through Carbonadium. They hunt in packs of 4 or 5 making them the primary prey of Sesitars. These beasts tend to eat stray travelers, Dezille, and a full pack of them can manage to take down a Vouxkey.

No Caption Provided

Vouxkey-A Herbivorous animal, the Vouxkey resembles the Earth Rhino in many ways. Their hide is super tough and they have a large horn on their skull. These 6ft creatures walk slowly but can sprint in a straight line reaching a speed of 50 mph and carrying their 20 tons of weight behind them.

No Caption Provided

Dezille-The weakest known animal on Mars is the Dezille, this creature is one of the main food sources for the people. They consume sand in order to survive which is odd by earth standards but on mars is completely natural. This is due to the roots and things that are under the sand but above the hard rock. These creatures stay in packs of 15 to 20 and move around grazing. Most livestock outposts raise these creatures or Vouxkey due to their normally docile nature and the fact that they are edible.

OOC AND STUFF

So this is the Andromedean Empire on Mars. It doesn't take up half the planet but they do technically own half of it. Here are the rules for the thread and the sections without spoiler blocks are links.

  1. Like always standard CVU rules apply
  2. Destruction is acceptable but, only small amounts anything larger must be approved via a PM will receive a response from the military.
  3. All are welcome, there are ports on Earth that have ships that can take you to the city if you need them. These would be located in major cities and such.
  4. An audience with the Royal family is always allowed just say you had one scheduled or you broke in whichever works for you.
  5. You are allowed to live here or make a character here but, in order to have a home in the capital you need to have a job in the capital.
  6. Any questions, PM this account

@lords_of_light:

Someone had to visit Mars after the colonies were established. Tyrus was furious after the announcement the Andromedans had made and put most of her efforts into defending the planet against the threat she'd already been preparing for. With Raeyn occupied and other members of the organization that could travel in space also occupied, she contacted The Custodian through The Force (the police group not the mystical power field) and asked her to go check on them in her stead. She agreed readily, especially because she had her own reasons for checking on them. Earth was her brother's most beloved world and she had made it her work to defend it, that meant making sure Mars wasn't half in the hands of villainous aliens.

The Custodian flew to Mars under her own gravity manipulated power and landed in the capital city. She chose the slums to land in, always eager to see the worst of a society before seeing its best. She found that visiting the best first tended to color someone's view of the culture in a more positive light, what she wanted was the most balanced view possible. I don't know if these people know what a Binary is or will recognize me as one, I suppose we'll find out. I'll start here and just walk to the palace, doesn't really matter to me if it takes a few days.

She crouched down in the middle of the ruined street and ran her hand over the corpse of a wild beast. Poor thing, gunned down in its own back yard. She moved her hand from its corpse and altered the gravitational field of the projectile, easing it from the corpse and cradling the projectile in her hand for a moment. Advanced technology, of course, but crude, more crude than their military or police are likely to have. The people in these slums are fending for themselves.

RRRRROOOOOAAAAAARRRRR

A screeching roar filled the air, then the sound of movement in alleyways and behind buildings. In the middle of the street, about a mile away, a strange beast dug it's claws into the ruined ground. It kicked up a trail of dirt as it slid along the path, large chunks of stone flew into the air. The creature itself stood 5 feet above the ground, it's tree trunk like legs made up most of the height. Attached to it's feet were three talons, each one about 3in. long. It lacked arms but it's head was massive, it could at least fit a human head inside and chomp down with the rows of razor sharp teeth inside. The creature lacked eyes but, it seemed to be looking in the direction of the person who had just landed in the streets, it cocked it's head like it was waiting for what seemed to be it's prey to do something.

The beast slowly moved forwards with each step causing it's feet to dig into the land below and it's tail to swing back and forth. The creature let loose a shrill roar followed by a series of clicking sounds, it's claws dug deeper and it squatted down. It's powerful legs extended upwards and the beast launched itself forwards, from either side of the traveler two more beasts sprung from the shadows. Each one openeing it's mouth looking to get dinner. Psshw, Psshw,Psshw.

The sound of three plasma shots rang through the air, the two creatures to the left and right fell from the air and slid, their heads clashing against each other. The one who chose the frontal approach was blown back by the blast, it's head erupting and it's carcass dropping to the ground.

"What the hell are you doing outside, don't you know it's Viddea season."

The voice came from a rooftop about one building back, atop the place stood a man dressed like your stereotypical outlaw. He had the coat and everything, in his hand sat a revolver with a glowing red tip. The man reached over and dropped something down, it was a poorly constructed rope ladder. The wood that made up the steps looked half rotting and the rope that held it together didn't look much better.

''I suggest you get off the streets, those things are something you don't want to mess with."

@lords_of_light:

The Custodian looked up at the beasts moments before they would attack. She wasn't terribly concerned but they had no way of knowing what she was. She frowned slightly when they were all mercilessly shot down...but understood the sentiment behind the effort. She turned her attention to the man on the roof and stood, gazing for a moment at the ladder. Even though she didn't need it, she felt it would be rude to turn down his help and climbed the ladder carefully. Once on the roof top she looked out at the dead beasts and then back at him. Rather than insult him with a stereotypical 'i can help myself' she instead smiled. "Thank you, I appreciate the help."

She dusted her white and black leather trench coat off a little. "Hi." She said with a smile again and extended her hand to shake, used to human customs by now. "I'm The Custodian. I decided to visit your city here and see how everyone is doing." That she was also here to check up on the leadership she left out.

"Well if your interested in the city it's just beyond those walls, as much as the Schmucks inside those walls like to consider us part of their little capital we ain't. We refuse to work so they told us we can't have property, simple as that. We out here are a nation of free men and women who live off the land and ain't gotta work a day in our lives to do so."

The man spit off the top of the roof, a few claw sounds came from the distance. He walked over to the middle of the roof, a large metal panel was locked into place by a set of rusty hinges at one end and a poorly made chain at the other. He grabbed onto the chain, releasing it from the hook that held it in place and yanked up. The strong smell of something resembling liquor drifted out, it was putrid.

"Listen, don't take my kindness today to heart. In all honesty I only saved you because those things keep comin back once they get a kill. Trust me, one of my neighbors decided to get a little tipsy and fell off his roof. Guy busted his ankle and couldn't go nowhere, he was easy prey. Those damned Viddea kept comin back for the next week, well now that that's out of the way I'll be off. Have a lovely time on our little slice of the universe."

The man jumped down into the hole, the metal plate came slamming down and the sound of a latch sliding into place came after.

Huh, he wasn't all that nice after all. She mused, looking at the closed hatch for a moment. The Custodian shrugged, curious as to what he'd meant when he said they refused to work. Are they expecting something for nothing? That hardly seems fair, like it would unfairly tax those who choose to work just to support those who don't. The Custodian levitated off of the roof and flew across the slums and over the wall. Once on the other side she landed and made her way deeper into the city. Her path to the palace was not a terribly direct one and she had no intention of making it anything of the sort. I hope the rest of the people here are nicer or this is going to be a real downer of a trip. I should probably stop in the slums again on my way out, maybe it was just that one guy...but I really do want to know why they refuse to work and why they think they should get something for nothing.

@the_custodian:

The city itself was quite the contrast from the slums. The wall served as a simple divider and the bustling life was at the edge of it. Fast cars hovered through the air and people wapked below. It was as if everyone hade something to do, this by no means meant it was impersonal. Some people stopped and had conversations, others would walk next to someone going the same way and talk like that. Their was a surprising amount of interaction for such a large place.

Not wishing to disrupt anyone The Custodian flew on to the palace and landed at the front entrance. She smiled at the guards and then walked through, entering the Palace in search of the Empress in charge of the Andromedans. This was far from her first visit with an alien leader or her first visit with an alien species but she always enjoyed them. Most aliens, she found, were quite friendly if you gave them the chance.

She Was Expected

It was hard to go around an entire city without getting noticed by the Andromedean Royal family, even harder to fly within 200 miles of the palace and not get spotted. The good thing was that Alexander had remembered her from earth, she was one of their heroes so the guards were informed and she was escorted to the throne room. Inside the room sat the queen atop her large white chair, on either side of her stood the two sentinels and on either side of those sat two more thrones. One was higher up and the other was a bit lower, no doubt the higher one was for the emperor and the lower for the prince. Both of those chairs were empty leaving her in the middle, legs crossed and a white rose twirling in her hands. The room itself was far from basic, large golden columns reached to the high arched ceiling. Behind the three thrones as a strange obelisk with a large circle on the middle. Blue light radiated out from that circle and down through small glass trails on the walls and floor. The two guards stopped at the entrance and closed the door before turning and taking up a rather standard position on either side.

"So, an earthling has finally come to visit. I imagine you had a look around so I must inquire, what do you think of our empire."

The Custodian bowed briefly. As a Binary intergalactic laws stated she technically need bow before no authority but she chose to out of respect. Her eyes shifted briefly between the empty chairs but she made no comment on them. "I am here on behest of someone from Earth but I myself am a Binary and thus, not from Earth." She said. "My name is The Custodian. I have indeed had a look around and I have a few questions for you, when it is polite to ask them." She said with a smile. "The Director of STRIKE asked me to come here, she would have contacted you personally but she is...rather furious with you, right now." She said honestly.

''Well then it is a pleasure to meet you madam Custodian. As for your director's anger, that is to be expected but, I'm sure she'll find peace one day."

The Empress slipped down from her throne, the white chair folded and collapsed until it took the shape of a gold necklace. She then gently lifted the piece of jewelry and placed it around her neck, the two mecha that had stood at her side roared to life and as she moved they followed. She gestured for her guest to follow her.

"Now you mentioned you had questions for me, I imagine this is some sort of routine check-up to make sure were not building anti-human weapons? Do not worry I take no offense, such things are common when a strange visitor moves in next door. Especially when that visitor is an advanced race of Alien life forms."

The Empress stepped through a large pair of solid metal doors inside were walls of books, a few soft chairs, and a butler. The empress took a seat and gestured for her company to do the same.

"Sorry about the shift in scenery but, I figured you would be more comfortable here and quite frankly my Throne isn't a nice one to sit on. Now about those questions, ask away?"

After Jon briefly introducing Aizen to Los Angeles, Aizen decided it was time to get to work. He felt the need to figure out why he wasn’t on Arcania, why he was on Earth, and why he couldn’t remember anything except for his name, his home planet, and his species. Everything else like his background and personal history was somewhat of a blur at best.

The Arcanian decided that humans, at least the common civilian like Jon knew nothing of Arcania and its inhabitants. Aizen hoped that other Aliens would know something of Arcanians or at least could point him in a general direction to his home planet. After addressing his issue to Jon, Jon mentioned that recently Aliens had come to Earth, and made a new civilization on Earth’s neighbor planet Mars. With little to no knowledge of any other Aliens, Aizen decided this was his only option at the moment. He parted ways with Jon, so he could venture to Mars.

After roaming, the foreign planet known as Mars, he finally found what he believed to be the civilization of the newly settled Aliens, in all honesty, he was impressed by how much they were able to accomplish in such little time. Jon made it seem as if these Aliens had just recently settled down on the neighboring planet, so they had surely made work of their time here.

Aizen saw the Sky Road leading to what he believe to be some kind of palace. He slowed his speed of flight, before softly placing his feet on the road. In a matter of seconds he was greeted by some kind of soldiers. Aizen stood still to not cause any problems, he understood their hostility, an outsider had just landed in their homeland. The soldiers approached Aizen cautiously, Aizen rose his hands, but the speed at which he did this, cause an even more hostility. The men raised their weapons. “I wish to speak to your leader, I have no ill intentions, I simply come in hopes to speak to your leader, if that is possible.”

The Custodian smirked. "You clearly haven't spent much time with Tyrus recently if you think she'll find peace any time soon." She followed after her, walking along quietly and listening to what she had to say. She flared her trench coat out behind her and took a seat in the offered chair, crossing one leg over the other. "I don't mind."

She relaxed for a moment, taking in her surroundings and focusing her thoughts before speaking. "The slums on the outside of town, they're clearly fending for themselves." She said. "They said something about because they aren't willing to work they aren't taken care of?"

The mention of their slums was not strange, most visitors were intrigued by the way their society functioned for it was quite different. However the way she phrased her question made their government seem like they were in the wrong. Which meant that from this point on utmost understanding of every sentence was required so the situation was not turned against her. Not all of Earth's inhabitants were silver tongued but one could never be to sure.

''Ahh, yes that is just how our society functions however, I wouldn't phrase it like that. It's quite simple really, our citizens are given housing and payment for preforming their jobs in the city. So not only do they receive currency but they are supplied with a home. The people on the outside of the walls refused to preform a job and thus were not given housing or currency. So they move outside the walls into the ruined portion of the city."

The Empress waved her butler over and whispered in his ear before he scurried out of the room.

@prince_aizen:

He was lucky

The guards didn't let people in without proper reason or scheduled appointment. Lucky enough for this strange figure Alexander was out on his daily walk around the palace, as he arrived enough of his statement was heard to warrant a slight inquiry. So with grace the Emperor of Andromeda approached the guards gently resting his hands on their shoulders and telling them that this one could come in. His left eye took a good look at him, his intent wasn't particularly hostile so he could come in for now. Alexander gestured for him to follow through the palace, it was quite the sight. The walls were lined with pillars made of a golden material and the ceiling was incredibly high. The whole place was rather spacious compared to most other palace's, the alien was led through three or so hallways before arriving at the throne room. Alexander took his seat which was the highest of the three thrones.

"So, what exactly do you need?"

@the_custodian:

"Ok but...why would they refuse to perform a job?" The Custodian wondered. The concept of not doing your job was alien to her, extremely alien. With humans she sort of understood, they maybe had medical problems or usually something else was going on...but simply choosing not to, especially when one knew the costs? Why then? "It just doesn't make much sense to me. They seem to be doing ok fending for themselves but it's not as if it is easy living, they aren't saving themselves in labor or hard work."

'' Free will, rebelling against the system, laziness, who really knows. In all honesty we gave up on rehabilitation and reintegration after it failed to work. These are people who are an enigma to you and me both."

The empress leaned back in her chair, resting her back against the soft cushy material. It was made of animal hides, specifically the animals that lived on Mars with them. She crossed one leg over the other and held out her arms.

"But, that can't be the only reason your here can it?"

The Custodian listened and nodded a little. "No it's not the only reason I'm here, it was just something I happened to see on my way in and was curious about. Tyrus would like a full report of what's going on here, how will your species is progressing and any technological developments. She'd also like me to make sure there's nothing going on here that would threaten Earth's security..."

The Custodian paused a moment, not entirely excited to say the next part. "And she wants an explanation as to why you didn't come to us for help and instead put STRIKE in a position to have to defend Earth against yet another threat while also making her political position even more difficult." She shook her head a little. "Tyrus is really quite furious. She and I discussed this at length before I came here and she wanted me to remind you of my status as a Binary and explain it if you're not aware."

Sometimes the Earthlings were a bit too paranoid, in truth the entire military force of Andromeda was a threat to their safety but Earth still stood. The fact was that if they had wanted Earth they could've taken it by now but, they didn't.

''Well considering our military and technological advances our entire military force would pose a threat to Earth if we ever had to aim towards it. Yet we have no reason to, we seek to coexist with a lack of violence between our people."

Then came the second question, and with no offense meant to Earth, it was quite the pointless one. Yet it did warrant an answer so an answer would be provided.

"Considering that the fate of my entire race was on the line and I met this man before I even approached your people I had no choice. If he had even the slightest suspicion he could have destroyed the last ship and everyone inside by himself. I mean look what his armies are doing on your planet and he hasn't even gotten involved. The only reason I stand before you is the fact that I was to publicly known to kill without drawing too much attention."

The butler came back into the room and set down a tray which contained a tea set. The Empress poured herself a cup and sipped from it.

"The fact is that at the time I was approached I had no choice, we were promised our own piece of land in exchange for causing a distraction. Once I met your people I realized how wrong it was and how similar our people were. Which is why I did eventually inform you. And I'm going to request you fill me in on your status as a binary."

The Custodian nodded and listened quietly. She didn't make any notes but had no need to do so, she would remember what the woman said clearly enough. "I will be sure to inform Tyrus of what you said, I don't know what she'll do with the information but I would take the fact that all she has done is send a representative to mean that she is inclined to believe you meant no harm." She leaned back in her seat at the request for Binary information. "I am a member of a species from a world practically on the other side of the universe called Binaries. Many of us, myself included, are considered something of intergalactic negotiators and in certain instances, police. As you may infer from my name, as The Custodian it is my duty to guard certain planets, of with Earth is my current focus. Right now, I'm not involved in anything large scale and am simply working to improve conditions on the Earth, but that can change if necessary."

She watched her a moment and smiled a little. "I've never met your species before, I'm sorry one or two of us were not present when you needed help...but I am here now and if you do find yourself in need of help, honest help, I will do so. That said, if a conflict were to arise between yourselves and Earth, I would be bound to choose the side of Earth. It's my understanding you have become a protectorate of the Thousand Worlds of Rytorus, this should serve your defense well but it's only something that can be called upon in the case of external threats. I happen to have had deals with them in the past, they are a trustworthy alliance of worlds that have generally been pushed around in the past."

Kayle Aurorez sat in the escape pod trimming and modifying one of the flight suits to be more to her taste. She'd recently lost most her guns and tech from a fight that was arguably far outside her range. Kayle was just a bullet conjuring pirate with a series of unique guns from her own inventive mind. Perhaps then she shouldn't cross paths with the likes of the Destructor. Trinity Blue had shown the capacity to tank some of the most volatile of weapons. Still through skill and luck Kayle had survived the encounter her one that was a near light speed attack that bombarded the body with forces almost escaping comprehension.

Covering her violet skin and tatted figure the princess of piracy set about fixing the weapons she still had. The Rasputen and Hammer were safe of course do to being made of a durable sort do to what they had to fire. Through a mixing of parts Kayle was also able to repair the Aces, wrist holstered pistols. It was a farcry from a full ensemble but it'd do. And content with her situation she strapped in preparing for the inevitable impact.

The earth rocked and vermillion sand shot into the sky as the escape pod landed on the outskirts of an empire. Climbing from the wreckage the siren found herself greeted by the sun and barren landscape that was Mars. At least it was a recognizable world in the distance though she could tell it wasn't to be a hospitable one. Knowing there was but one survivor from the wreckage a pack of Viddea began to race her way thinking an easy meal was coming their way. A frustrated sigh escaped the bounty hunter as she brought Aces up to bare.

(Wanted to do more but settled for an intro sense I've only got so much time before other things to do)

TWAAANNNGGGGGG

The sound of high tension cord snapping rang out through the Outland air, the pack of Viddea all cocked their heads in search of the sound. One stepped out sniffing the air, then its body flew across the desert. The other two lowered their heads and began stepping backwards before turning tail and taking off. Lodged inside the neck of wild beast was a large metal arrow, most likely made of Praodine, that pinned the dying animal to the desert ground. It's thick green blood poured from the wound and onto the red sand of Mars.

"DO NOT MOVE"

The voice came from a small squad of five or so Bio Corsairs sent to investigate the crash. They kept their weapons drawn and their bows loaded incase combat was deemed necessary, what could only be assumed to be the squad captain moved in a little closer. The gears whirred as he pulled back on the arrow he had ready, it was massive and suited the 18ft tall machine.

"Place any and all weapons on the ground and then back away from them. We mean you no threat it's just standard protocol."

The entire empire was alive with the sound of music, the celebration of their future, and the love of combat. It had been years since the last one on one challenge was issued, the last battle took place on their old world. Now they would once again get to support their emperor in his quest for the honor of his people.

Not only was a challenge issued but, a new emperor had been crowned. The son of Alexander Cross now held the throne. It was customary to name a new emperor before the one on one challenge in the event of a loss. Of course a loss was not expected to happen, their emperor was a mighty warrior. He held the eyes of a Cross and those were the eyes of champions.

An escort was ready to bring the He’Draxi into the city and to the palace. In the center of which the challenge would take place, it would be broadcast for those that could not make it inside the grounds. For those that could they would get to watch, along with their new emperor Octavian Cross.

The He’Draxi leader would be brought to the palace grounds but, her opponent would not yet be there. He had preparation to undergo, a device was built to support his leg and allow it to function like normal. No electronic parts were installed to prevent the anti-technology field from disabling it.

Kresaya was stunned by the challenge but she accepted it out of hand. To prepare for the unusual Andromedan environment Kresaya placed a bronze and black mask over her nose and mouth that would filter much of the oxygen continent of the artificial atmosphere and leave a higher concentration of Carbon Dioxide. This would allow her body to gradually adjusted to the lower concentration of Carbon Dioxide and increased concentration of Oxygen so that if she spent long enough in their environment she would eventually be able to remove the mask. The second step was to ingest a rare Velath fruit from an unusual tree that grew underground and was harvested on occasion by the He'Draxi. One of the side effects of eating the fruit was a greatly reduced body temperature, this would allow her to live and fight in the much warmer Andromedan air by keeping her body temperature artificially depressed.

Kresaya selected four women and one of her harem men to go with her to the city, the four women were an escort of her own, the man was to exchange if she happened to lose the challenge. In her time if a warlord were to lose a challenge but was not killed, one of her most fit men would be handed over as a gift to the winner. On the way, she speculated briefly on what an Andromedan man might have to offer, but eventually found herself with no answer and shrugged.

As they entered the city Kresaya's eyes wandered over its many wonders and the people who had come to see the strange natives for themselves. Though the women around her looked on with astonishment, Kresaya's eyes held a different look...one of disdain. The Andromedan city was too flash, too full of itself for Kresaya to enjoy its beauty. Where others saw beauty, she saw the imprisonment of the land and the violation of Martian air. The palace impressed her less, it was too focused on being proud.

By the time she reached the palace Kresaya grew tired of the mask and removed it. Her first dozen breaths without it were difficult, but the athletic warrior woman soon adjusted. Soon she stood before the crowd and the Emperor.

She held out her hand and her man promptly placed a scroll into it. She held the furled scroll tightly in one hand and raised it up for everyone to see. "This document was presented to us by your Empress, a demand that we move from our homelands, from our ancestral hunting grounds...from the very places that give us life so that you and your kind could flourish...while my people starve!" She was no stranger to theater and intended to us this forum, where her voice would reach all of the Andromedans, to her benefit. She began to pace with a combination of obvious anger and predatory stalking, as if standing still caused her physical discomfort. "This is why we stand where we do now, this is why people on both sides have had to die. Your leaders expect us to go away and die while the rest of the planet is gradually enslaved to their will. The He'Draxi do not roll over and die when someone asks us to!" She paused for a moment and turned, her eyes scanning over the crowd of Andromedans and she lowered her voice, became less aggressive. "All that we ask is that you stop destroying that which supports us and that you treat us with respect. Your Empress called us savages, she believed, as your leaders believe, that we are ignorant and foolish, that we simply aren't capable as intelligent as you. I personally led a strike team that drove away one of your precious Sky Fortresses...if you don't understand our strength now, you never will."

Kresaya drew her blade and twirled it easily in her hand. "I am Kresaya, Warlord of the He'Draxi. I have come among my enemies because I have been challenged to personal combat. I accept the challenge and ask that my enemies...open their eyes...and their ears and think on the words I have spoken to them. We will not go quietly away...and you are not as safe, not as superior and not as kind as you believe."

@maieria:

The empire fell silent, her words resonating across the entire country. Their meaning, their emotion, everything they represented. Soundwaves coming from speakers in homes as they watched the foreign enemy speak about their cause. The silence still hung over the people, nobody responded, nobody said anything. Even the children drew quiet out of fear, everyone who saw them was afraid. These we're the people who had attacked without warning, who had jumped to war without first trying peace. Then when they we're offered peace, they claimed the life of a loved member of the royal family.

No Caption Provided

The silence hung in the air for only a minute but, it would feel like an hour. The thick veil comprised of the lack of sound was shattered by the creak of two massive doors swinging open. They revealed a glimpse of the lavish and sculpted castle interior. Standing in the very middle was Alexander Cross himself, flanking his sides were his son Octavian Cross and a woman who's name was unknown. He moved forwards, his grey hair and beard gently protruding from his body. A mechanism on his right leg producing only a slight grinding sound as he walked forwards. He stopped at the foot of the stairs, Octavian drew a blade, it's blue edge crafted from the finest Fochalt and sharpened beyond a razors edge. It's leather bound hilt found it's way into Alexander Cross's grip and he moved forwards once more.

"You speak as though you did nothing to provoke our actions. You struck our people down without even a single warning, what choice did we have other then to try and force you away. Had you kept your weapons sheathed then maybe we wouldn't have to be here. Maybe my wife would still be alive."

He closed his eyes, muttering words to soft for anyone to hear. Both his hands gracing the rounded pommel of the blade. Then they opened, their color shifting from a sandy brown to a bright and glowing blue. His left eye, the all seeing eye allowed him vision on every spectrum for a radius of 200 miles. His right eye, the all controlling eye allowed him the ability to edit the brains perception. He could create illusions that you could feel, make a single second feel like an entire year, given enough time he could even imprison someone inside their own mind. Now seeing their emperor's true powers for the first time the crowd went wild. Cheers erupting from the mouth of every bystander.

"Now here we stand, both our lives on the line for a war that didn't need to begin. You should have accepted the deal when it was offered, if you had countless members of both our species would still be alive."

He lifted the blade and took a ready stance, it was now time for the battle to begin. With the firing of a gun, he wouldn't even move. His right eye would obscure him from sight, he would vanish for everyone in the arena. Hoping it would be a success he moved to flank her, counting on her brain filling in the details and allowing his footsteps to appear silent. He would move, opting for a low bearing slash at the back of the knee. Appearing only for a moment before looking to vanish once again.

A man? An OLD man, he has to be a least forty. Kresaya was instantly paranoid. She didn't believe the Andromedans had given her the honor of a personal challenge only to insult her. This man had something up his sleeve, some trick or another to try and level the playing field. "We did not provoke your arrival on Mars, nor your ceaseless hunting that has reduced our prey stock, or your desire to control everything on the surface, right in the grazing paths of the animals we rely upon. My people tried patience, they followed the advice of the Elders to try and adapt. I am the response to starvation and fear. Your wife would still be alive if she had not killed herself on my blade. My intent was her capture, not her death, I would never kill a fellow Warlord outside of combat. She chose to die, she pushed herself on my blade, because she thought war might teach me a lesson." Kresaya shook her head. "I AM war. I don't fear death, I am a He'Draxi woman, I was born to die."

When he vanished, Kresaya closed her eyes.

More than a thousand years ago...

Kresaya, barely twelve, picked herself up off of the floor with a groan of pain and picked up her practice sword again.

"Your eyes are good for hunting, for tracking, for taking in detail...but they are the most easily fooled of all the senses. We rely upon them like a crutch girl..." Her trainer said.

Kresaya eyed the woman. "If you teleport, how am I supposed to know where you are? It isn't fair."

The woman smirked. "Life isn't fair. Learn to pay attention to your senses, but understand they can lead you astray. In battle, focus only on your instincts, the tendencies of your enemy." She teleported suddenly and struck Kresaya from behind. The girl cried out and stumbled before she recovered her balance.

"How am I supposed to anticipate your actions if you teleport though? There's not enough time to sense where you are!" Kresaya complained.

"You're thinking. Stop thinking. Every creature big or small has an instinct that tells them danger is near. We rely on our vision, on our hearing, on our sense of smell and these are all valuable tools...but when they betray us, we have spent too much time ignoring that instinct to respond to it. We spend our lives trusting our senses so much, we tune out everything else." The woman approached and tied a piece of leather around Kresaya's eyes. "Now you are blind."

Two hours of this practice continued with Kresaya being soundly beaten, never once landing a block until, at long last, her young mind fully understood the meaning of her instructor's words. She finally listened to that weird sensation, the hairs standing on end, the sudden rush of adrenaline that came with an incoming attack. She moved and there was a loud clash of practice blade on practice blade.

"Good!" Her instructor said. "Focus on that. Focus child."

She opened them again and responded to honed instinct. His blade came within an inch of her knee before it was abruptly stopped and metal met ancient vibrating bone. The sound was audible, if alien, not the sound of metal on metal but of ancient vs modern. She acted then, rather than wait for his next attack and relied not on vision but upon the tactics of a warrior. She knew where she would be if she had made such an attack and responded based upon what she believed her follow up would be.

It was her turn to vanish as she teleported abruptly and re-appeared at what ended up being at his right side. She was still learning his tendencies and thus rather than be behind him, she was where he could see her. Even so, her blade lashed out, singing through the air as it sought to sever his leg just below the hip. She still couldn't see him, but her actions were based on other senses, on sound and smell and more importantly...on her understanding of blind fighting, of where opponents had to be located to make their attacks and her ability, honed over years of training and experience, to anticipate. She didn't have precognitive abilities but to the uninitiated it might seem as if she did. Her attack was less than she had hoped for, but if he did nothing, he would lose his leg, the angle of her blade, the motion of her swing, all based on her first physical impression of him and how tall he was.

She who was born to die would meet said fate, today her blood would be spilled and an end would arrive for this pointless war. He moved with a surprising amount of speed and grace for such an old man, his body contorting rather well for someone who appeared so old and frail. The crowd erupted in applause for their emperor and his nimble movements.

Blade clashed with blade, crystal struck bone and from it's vibrations came a screeching noise. The lock of blades would only last a moment before he guided both towards the ground. Their edges broke contact and he retreated backwards, allowing his illusions to mask his location. It was at this moment that she harnessed the famed He'Draxi teleportation ability, footage sent from the raid against the Landing Castle showed their power to move from place to place. Normally it would be near impossible to train against such a power but, his son possessed a similar ability.

Believing himself masked by illusion he was still caught off guard by the sudden approach of the woman, her blade moving through the air in a near precognitive manor. It's edge humming as it was once again brought against his crystal blade. Now his position was revealed, even if he was masked from sight he would be known. Dropping his illusion with a shimmering affect, making it seem as if he had removed some sort of cloaking.

With edges of blades locked he smiled at her, his eye would now begin projecting a new illusion. From his sleeves a thick smoke would begin to pour outwards obscuring his body and slowly drifting through the entire courtyard. Hushed whispers moved in small waves as people watched in awe, the illusion wasn't complete until everyone believed it after all.

He sought to escape, moving backwards into the smoke his eye would project a shadow amidst the thick mist. He would force it to move with her movements, her slashes would create momentary divisions amidst the smoke as his false shadow led her on a wild goose chase away from him. He only needed a moment.

He began whispering,

"I am Alexander Cross, the last father of the Cross bloodline. My families power lies within me and with that power I will strike down all who oppose. With the authority of the House of Cross I sentence you to DEATH"

On his last word the fog would erupt outwards, now revealing himself at the far end of the arena. His forehead began to move slightly, a large slit taking shape. It opened and revealed a spoken legend, never truly confirmed. His third eye, crafted from his eye, his mothers eye, and his fathers.
