The Nature and Function of the CVU Council of Editors (COE)
The COE of the CVU Universe serves to mediate canon-related discrepancies between users, approve wide-scale crossover events, maintain the integrity of continuity, and serve to rectify any unforeseen problems with the CVU. The COE shall be composed of 3 trusted users elected one at a time by the entire CVRPG community. In specific circumstances, such as the absence of a member or during Empire Claims, the Vice COE of 2 users (also elected by the community) shall serve to rectify any potential conflicts of interest or stand in for an absent member or members.
The COE will hear appeals from users regarding specific instances of rule implementation. For example, if a user wishes to ignore a rule regarding their "maining" a character before posting an event, the COE will evaluate that user's track record of following through on canon and making sure effort is put into crafting the narrative. If they find the user is trustworthy enough for this to be the case, the rule will be waived for this singular instance.
While the COE shall be an authority with regards to canon, they shall by no means have the final say when it comes to community discrepancies. If the community believes the COE has made an unjust ruling regarding any issue, their decision may be overturned entirely by an 75% or greater vote in favor of the pre-interference outcome.
The COE may vote in canon-related polls.
The Vice COE
The Vice COE shall be elected one at a time by the entire CVRPG community and will be comprised of two users. They will have two duties:
- Stand in for a missing COE member if necessary
- Serve as the defending local NPC forces during Empire Claims, if the nation being claimed is unowned.
Unless either of these criteria are met, the Vice COE has no more authority than a regular user.
The COE and Vice COE during Empire Claims
During Empire Claims, the COE shall judge the outcome of the RP and make sure the rules have been followed. The COE shall approve the commencement of an Empire Claim as well as approve the validity of its conclusion. The Vice COE shall control the defending NPCs. If conflict of interest is an issue, it will be dealt with on a case-to-case basis.
Election of the COE and Vice COE
Every member of both the COE and Vice COE is to be elected one at a time, and by the entire CVRPG community. However, bear in mind that the COE must be both active in the development of the world as well as knowledgeable regarding the IC developments. The COE will be very busy, in stark contrast to the CVnU one. It is not a task to be taken lightly in any circumstance. The COE members shall be elected by majority vote one by one.
A COE member or Vice COE member can be removed from their position by 80% in-favor community vote. Only active members of the CVU may vote to remove a COE member or Vice COE member.
Elections of the COE will commence tonight (12/28/2016).
The order of events will take place as follows:
- Nominations occur for COE members in this thread. Users may self-nominate. In 24 hours, a single poll will be made with every nominated user.
- The user who has the most votes after 24 hours becomes our first (of three) COE member.
- A second poll is made without the previous winner, 24 hours from now. The winner of this poll becomes the second COE member.
- A third poll is made without the previous two winners, 24 hours from the conclusion of the second poll. The winner of this poll becomes the third and final COE member.
- Nominations occur for Vice COE members within this thread after the COE have been elected. A single poll is made with every nominated user. After 24 hours pass, the winners of those polls become the Vice COE members.
Alright, let's begin! Remember, everyone from the RPG community can vote in these polls, even users who will not be part of the CVU. To ensure that there are no cheaters via alternate accounts, please post the name of who you cast your vote for in the OOC of the first poll thread, which will be up after nominations have concluded.
One Last Word
Being a member of the COE in the CVU will not be an easy task. If you are elected, you will be an Editor first, and a writer second. You will be expected to be knowledgeable on the canon of CVU and communicative with the users. You must be easily reached and active. Remember this before nominating yourself or accepting a nomination.
