We're giving it a little time, so we're not swamped with minor questions right out of the gate.

A corporation would NOT qualify unless it met the other criteria for an Empire, namely the political and military control over territory inside the solar system.

For example Wayne Enterprises would not qualify as an empire. Although wealthy and powerful they don't have their own territory. But if Wayne Enterprises bought an island, imported settlers, and built a private army on that island then yes they would qualify as an Empire because they are an Empire in effect if not name.

This is a good question there is some opportunity for confusion and grey area, thanks for bringing it up.

And now I'm wondering if Advent counts as an empire. Always viewed it as a team, but it is meant to have some influence on the world at large.

I am designing a character that uses my name but to add the finishing touches I need some help.

Is there currently any evil corporation that I could use as a nemesis/motivation? Also, do I have permission to use them? If not, I plan on creating one and I was wondering if I need to use the Empire Creation rules.

Is there currently a subterranean race akin to the Moloids? Can I use them? Again, if there isn't one I will be creating one which will likely require the use of the Empires rules but I just want to make sure before I do anything.

@DireDrill: There's the Hellfire Club and some NPC corporations mentioned in various posts I believe (sorry I dont know the names off hand). I believe (but I could be wrong) you do not need the Empire creation rules to create an evil corporation as long as said corp doesn't own like an entire state, country, city, and allows you to govern political power in said areas with your own army.

I am looking for something like Lexcorp or Roxxon for my character. The Hellfire Club, assuming it works similarly to the Marvel one, is not really a corporation so much as it is an organization with an agenda. I am looking for a corporation willing to do whatever it takes to increase profits. Could you point me towards these posts with the corporations? Thanks for the information.

If it doesn't, then you're good to go.

The problem with evil corporations is that they can do all of those things indirectly through the use of influence and capital. Lexcorp or Roxxon, for example, have at one time or another indirectly done all of that. I am still looking through threads to see if I can find one that suits my purposes but if you know of one I may be able to use please speak up.

Also, just for clarification, there are no subterranean races at the moment, right? I am sure I will need to use the Empire rules for them should I need to create my own as they do all of those things directly.

If it doesn't directly govern land, does not control political polices, does not control a portion of the worlds resources and borders, or have a real army then it isn't a country.

From what it sounds like you're okay. Lexcorp was nice and everything, but they never had anything like the power of an actual first world country.

For subterranean races you would need to apply the same rule quoted above.

If its just a race of people who live under ground your fine :-) However if they own underground land, have a political system, control natural resources, have borders, and a army then that's an empire. Its actually still okay, so long as its a NPC Empire ANYONE can NPC. If you claim all the NPC's as yours, that's no different then running it as a PC and you have an Empire.

Thanks for asking BTW, this is a good way to make sure the explanations are out there, and ensure everyone knows what the rules are and where the lines are.

I did not intend to have full control over the subterranean race. They would only serve as allies but could also become allies to other people should they come across them near the core of the earth. Should I do a Location as well? Would people be interested in subterranean adventures?

I will try to have most of it posted by the weekend. Thanks for all the help, you guys have been so patient and understanding. I think I will like it here.

@DireDrill: A location is up to you! I've no idea if people would be interested in a subterranean location, but you could ask in Thoughty Thoughts and see how many responses you get.
