Take a right at the weeping willow, from there walk until the dimensions intersect and your there. I’m just kidding it’s on Washington
47 Washington Road is just an address upon first glance however, like with all things once you take a closer look it’s so much more. Walk up to the door at first glance you’ll see a normal home, a nice lawn, a few gnomes here and there. Take a closer look though and the grass isn't green anymore it’s actually clear, the dirt itself is whats blue. Oh and wasn't that gnome over there a minute ago, look closer and you’ll see him move. That's because they’re the lawn care service, how about that garden over there. Why did that plant just wink at me, basically what I’m saying is that here nothing is as it seems. That's because at it’s core this place is magic, a beacon to be exact. It’s a magical connecting point to the layers of the fold. It’s here that the mage known as Maxwell Hastings lives.
Asking the neighbors will yield little result, the adults think him a shut in who's afraid of personal interaction. The only person they've seen is his housekeeper who occasionally goes shopping. The kids in the neighborhood have seen much more, that's because their minds are more open the the concepts of the mystical and occult. They’ll tell you the house is haunted and filled with monsters and they’re not wrong. Mainly because every once in awhile a creature from the third or fifth layer will stumble through and start making a mess of the place. Either way you’ll never know what's truly going on until you step inside.
Those with a connection to magic are drawn to the place naturally, sometimes when Maxwell wants to meet someone the house will call to them. At the end of the day how you get there isn’t important, what’s important is that you always knock before coming in. Also never go to the basement and never open a random door. Follow those rules and you may make it out alive, don’t and well you may end up a tooth pick for a fire giant from the 58th layer.
As for the layout of the place, it’s bigger on the inside, like a lot bigger. The foyer is rather nice, a hint of a Victorian touch. Here is where you’ll most likely meet Maxwell or is he’s busy you’ll meet the housekeeper, Ming. Ming is a golem sworn to Maxwell’s service and is more then capable of holding his own. Break in and you’ll be met with the angry end of Ming's staff, enter the right way and you’ll be greeted with a hello and a cup of tea...don’t drink the tea...Ming makes bad tea.
Move up the stairs and you are met with two massive wooden doors, open those and your met with the main portion of the house. Here you’ll find a vast void filled with floating doors, each one connecting to a different layer of the fold. Like the door made of slime, that one takes you to the 1,567th layer. Don’t go there, it’s bad...really bad. Oh and don’t worry about falling, the pathway will materialize beneath your feet. Then all you have to do is call the door you want, it’s a very simple incantation just say “Kitchen” and the kitchen should pop up. Sometimes though the house will play a little joke and give you the door to a different place. Like this one time Ming wanted the Library and instead it gave him the door to the 121st layer. Ming was expecting books and instead he got a Kraken, they had sushi that night. Let's get back to the layout though.
The Main Rooms
Library-This is probably the largest room that won’t kill you. It’s a collection of every magic tome Maxwell has ever collected, needless to say it’s like a maze. Rows of books lining the shelves, just don’t open the ones that are locked. Just because the room won’t kill you doesn't mean the books are as nice. The good thing is that there is a system in place to eliminate the whole endless searching thing, just go to one of the many computers(what you thought the magic house wouldn't have computers, it’s the twenty-first century everyone has a computer.) open up the catalog, fine the book you want, press check out, and voila the book will be transported to you.
Kitchen-Talk about cooking in style, the kitchen itself is wonderful. The fridge is large, a very nice Kenmore model. The Freezer is a walk in...pocket dimension, very cold, about the size of a small cave. Most of the food cooked here is exotic as in from another dimension. Ming hunts it himself among the various layers of magic, he’s a very good chef but he still can’t figure out how to make tea.
Bedrooms-Nice Egyptian silk and sleep number mattresses are just some of the things you’ll find in the rooms. You’ll also find a bedside table, environmentally friendly light bulbs, very nice curtains with a great view of the neighboring buildings brick walls, and sometime the occasional goblin. They’re very nice goblins though they do have a habit of stealing shoes, they give them back...sometimes.
As for the security, the house tends to take care of itself. Why do you think the welcome mat says please knock. If you aren't one of the select few allowed to enter the house or you are not invited in then you will most likely encounter Ming. Let's say you don’t meet Ming or you get through him, you want to get to a room, assuming you know how to operate the home, you won’t get what you want. You say kitchen and you get something along the lines of Layer number 508(that's the one with the giant leeches...really nasty place to hang out...lots of leeches.). Then you’ll feel the house push you through the door and lock it from the other side, oh yeah then it moves the door basically trapping you there for a LOOOONG time.
