The Invincibly Super Massive Comic Book Podcast of Stuff: Episode 130
We absolutely 100% need more R rated comic book movies. The more the superhero genre diversifies the better, we don't all need to be the same Marvel movies. You would think all comic movies were turning in to porn the way Tony complains.
The majority of Deadpool fans are teenage boys and men in their early twenties. That demographic is fond of nudity and crude language. The R rating seems appropriate to me.
How do you say AT-ST?
EXACTLY!
@jonny_anonymous: Agreed.

Agree with this very much. I would only add that the rating should only be used if it's the best way to tell a story. The Wolverine, for instance, should have been R. That story was neutered as a result of its rating and it showed. The director's unrated cut on the Bluray was significantly better. If a filmmaker feels that the story needs an R rating then they should have it.

This. Honestly, the whole 'R-rated' stigma seems to be uniquely American, all the rhetoric I keep hearing across the internet, it's like they are dirty words.
Yes, let's make more, there are characters who should be rated R, not everything should be, nobody is saying that all movies need to be R-rated to be a success, but Deadpool really shows that R rated comic-book movies and action films in general can be blockbusters on par with top-earning comic-book/action movies.
Wolverine should be rated R, people want Wolverine on the back of a sentinel crashing through 10,000 ninjas as oceans of blood fly through the air, it's bloody Wolverine for crying out loud, he slices the sh*t out of stuff.
@rogueshadow: I don't think ratings matter, there are movies that are R that are awesome and there are movies that are R that suck, and the same with PG-13 movies, as long as the script is good it doesn't matter. Just like Tony said about the Wolverine movie, they don't need an R-rated Wolverine, they need a movie with a good script, and Deadpool wasn't good because it had sex and profanity in it, it was good because Deadpool is raunchily funny and that's his thing. I also don't think gore makes movies any better, if Wolverine got more gory it wouldn't help or affect the plot or make the movie more interesting.
