Why do women waste money on fashion?

Most women have ungodly amounts of shoes, clothes, and purses, most of which they never use or wear. Sure, everyone had their hobbies and collectibles, but clothes are something that people actually use and sometimes need. It's also a hilarious waste of money, especially when you have women in debt with tons of fashion "diva" crap but refuse to have an effing yard sale! Plus, no man will ever be attracted to you because you have on designer shoes, an expensive @$$ dress, or some dumb purse, which serves no purpose besides looking stupid!!!!

Look, I know women want to look good and dress beautifully, but if you have several closets full of clothes/ shoes and those closets aren't enough, come on! At least when men like sports, comics, or video games, that's not a basic neccesity of life.

My pervious partners have accused me of being very vain, and fashion orentatied at times. Sometimes I wish I could be girl, that way I could engage in such behavior without being judged :)

For the same reason men waste money on comics, guns, porn, etc. - because they like it.

While it would be easy to argue it’s a gross generalization and guys are into fashion just as well but I think the prudent thing to ask is something slightly different.

Girls have a lot of cloths, my question is so what? The desire to look good is a basic human trait and as such not subjected to gender difference. As long as a person, be it a guy or a girl, are spending their money to buy cloths, who are you as a bystander to object? It doesn't determent you in the least, it's not your money, why would your opinion on the subject be relevant?

Some people spend most of their money on comic book, others on technological gadgets, others on cloths, it's their money and as such theirs to use. I say let 'em.

@gjgp27: I think if you'd like some real answers, it might help if you don't put such extreme stereotypes. I can't speak for all women, but I like how it feels to look nice. I don't do it because I want guys to look at me or anything like that, I like it for myself and myself alone. A lot of gals I know say the same as well. As some others in the thread have said, people of both genders buy things they don't need, but merely because they financially can and they enjoy said things. Whether it be magazines, dvds, video games; if you have the money for it, I don't see why it's a problem to buy something you enjoy. Not to mention, some of the most fashionable people I've met are men. It all depends on the person, honestly.

Anything that makes you happy is worth spending you're money on. Take me for an example. I'm selfish beyond any and all reason. I spend my money on things that make me happy. I have absolutely no interest in starting a family of my own... Like ever. To a lot of people that is an odd behavior. As far as I am concerned... Spending all of my time, effort, and money on a bunch of people other than myself is ludicrous.

1. I am happy.

2. I live for myself.

3. I take care of myself.

4. I only worry about myself.

5. At the end of the day, all I have is myself.

6. What I spend my money on, is my own d*mn business.

I spend a solid amount of money on ties, dress shoes, blazers/jackets, and the such - it's not just women, and sometimes it's nice to have clothes to wear besides basic shirts and jeans.

Because men don't wear nice clothes. Nothing sexist about this at all.

I don't think it's only women because i know a lot of guys with that trait.
