I am a beer drinker first and foremost, but lately I have been getting more and more interested in drinking different types of whiskeys (Scottish, American, etc)
Does anyone have some good recommendations, preferably not above 100 dollars?
My preference is Jameson Irish Whiskey.
JW Red, Black, or Blue label (if you can afford it). Don't drink anymore, but when I did I'd chase the Red label (cause it's the cheapest) with ice and energy drinks.

I think JW is pretty gross...
@cpt_nice: To each their own. Puts hair on your chest though. Johnny Walker is like the "german beer" of whiskey. Either you love it or hate it.
@thepreface: Fair enough.
Ever try Tullamore Dew? any lover of Irish whiskey would certainly enjoy that.
No, never heard of it, but I'll find out ;)

I know I had tried another Irish whiskey a few years ago but for the life of me can't remember what it was, the name though doesn't sound familiar.

it's A LOT more smooth than jameson..a bit more pricey but well worth it, In my state (in the USA) it's priced 45$

That's pretty good, here in Amsterdam you can't get a half-way decent whiskey for anything less than 25 euros (+- 30 bucks)
@cpt_nice: If you live in the UK then may I suggest Oban? It's distilled in the country and tastes brilliant (it would be costly to import it outside of Europe however). If not then Laphroaig is always a safe bet for a good Scotch. GlenDronach is likwise a good Highland Malt but personally I'm partial to Irish, Jameson's is decent but I'd suggest Tullamore or Redbreast. Are you looking nice for something exquisite or a casual drink?
@giliad_: I bought a bottle of Highland Park 12 a few months ago and finished it two weeks ago. I think it is one of the best whiskeys I have tried as of it. The 18 and 21 might be slightly outside of my budget but if they are anything like the 12 I would definitely give it a try.
Thanks again for the recommendations.
