Gambon's "DID YOU PUT YOUR NAME IN GOBLET OF FIRE?!?!?" ruined it for me.
Harris was a little better for the role imo, but gambon was the better actor by a long shot.
They were both really good though.
Wow. A fifty-fifty poll result. I rarely see it.
On topic, I like them both but I voted for Michael Gambon.
Michael Gambon is a straight G...He was much more spry, and lively..Harris actually looked like he was on his way out..Poor casting choice imo..You don't hire someone that old for a long movie series, you always go Old but young old..Like 62-75.
Richard Harris to me had the magical twinkle in his eye, he is the exact representation of Dumbledore in my mind when I read Harry Potter.

I am thinking the same thing

Agreed.
Michael Gambon always felt out of place to me, when he would speak to Harry, the connection between him and Harry in the books never felt shown in the movies.
However Richard Harris's whole persona is one that sparks with every single trait one would imagine Dumbledore to have. Watch this and see if Michael Gambone ever came close to this, and look for the magical twinkle I was talking about, he brings the perfect image of Dumbledore to life.
@cable_extreme: Yep, that scene sums it up perfectly, Harris could be the brilliant, wise, understanding, benevolent old grandfather Wizard and retain a childlike whimsy and innocence when he eats the earwax flavour bean, his voice, that little twitch he does with his hands as he reaches for them, the look he gives Harry behind his half moon glasses; it's just perfect. Gambon was good if you extricate the books, but not as an adaptation of what Dumbledore's supposed to be, at least for me, I don't really see Dumbledore in his performance. I would have loved to have seen Harris play the role in the later films, especially his scenes with Snape.
I'm interested to see who they get for Fantastic Beasts 2.

You summed up my exact thoughts, seems I am not alone in my adoration for Richard Harris as Dumbledore, I just wish he was still around to witness the success of the Harry Potter series.
