The funny thing about my brother calling Kanye better than Drake is that Drake wouldn't exist if not for Kanye. 808s and Heartbreakis the album that influenced Drake's style.

I would certainly say Drake is a better MC than Kanye.

An argument could be made for vocally. But the fact still stands that Drake's style wouldn't exist if not for Ye's influence with 808s and Heartbreaks.

So, isn't it a bit paradoxical to call Drake better than Kanye?

To be fair, I don't know an awful lot about hip hop. I'm only beginning to learn the ropes :)

I mean well, sure if you look at it that way. Only problem with that logic is, we would have to say folks that pushed the genre in the right direction in the 70's/80's, supersedes everyone in the modern day era because if it wasn't for them, there would be no Hip-Hop.

That goes for everything, actually. Would you say, let's say, John Carter is better than Star Wars because the latter was influenced by the former?

That's actually not a bad point xD, but a better analogy would be The Godfather. It is considered the greatest movie of all time because it pioneered an entire genre (crime). And to call "Goodfellas" significantly better than TG is a bit silly.

Really, the reason I'm burnt out is because my brother called Drake and Chris Brown legends, and said Kanye isn't on their level. He also cited Views as an instant classic.

I mean, like Drake more all you want, consider him a better rapper, but to disown Kanye's influence and put him beneath even Chris Brown (which he did)... isn't that a bit uninformed?

EDIT: He also cites Views being streamed tremendously as one of the reasons it is influential and phenomenal. Which is ignorant. Most people don't know a second thing about rap and will listen to what is trendy without going beyond the surface.

Most people don't even know who Nas and Rakim are, anyway.

Better half of the 70s is a fair assessment. I'm just wondering how they intend to balance everything they've marketed so far. There is so much content in the film. Might be the most ambitious superhero film, IMO (yeah, Batman v. Superman had the pressure of setting up all of the JLA members, but they were just cameos and easter eggs).

God, I gotta re watch Man of Steel and Batman v. Superman before Suicide Squad.

When Clark and his father talk in BvS. I got all emotional.

It just dawned on me that Anakin killed that whole village of Sand people in 2. So watching the Clone wars cartoon, it just gets real weird, cause this disconnect between the movies and the cartoon on how his presented.

I actually want to get into Ghost Rider comics now.
