What are your 3 favorite new movies this year? (2015)

Hey Viners,

Surprisingly enough, I didn't see a thread for this. So, if there is a "favorite movies in 2015" thread, let me know. I'll proceed to feel some shame and then lock this one. Anyway, there's always ways to list a bunch of movies and what not and I'm sure your list will change as we get closer and closer to 2016, but I figured this could be the place where you decide what your TOP 3 films of 2015 are. No honorable mentions. No lists beyond 3 movies. Stick to the difficult choice of narrowing it down to just 3. If you want to, go the extra mile and say why they're awesome.

For me, right now it's Ex Machina, Mad Max: Fury Road, and Kingsman: The Secret Service.

Saw Ex Machina. It was good, but not sure it was one of my favorites for the year. Haven't seen Mad Max yet but Kingsman was amazing. Definitely one of my favorites.

Don't have a 3rd so I'll just say Age of Ultron again.

Ex Machina, Age of Ultron, and Jupiter Ascending (in that order).

Haven't seen Mad Max yet, and I missed out on seeing Kingsman.

I fully expect to come back and edit this soon.

Those are the only movies I've seen in theaters so far, so I have to agree with this list.

But Jupiter Ascending doesn't rightly deserve to be on the list; it just happens to be there due to circumstances. Ex Machina, however... that might very well remain #1 on my list.

@jedixman: I've actually seen Focus as well, but I enjoyed Jupiter Ascending more, so that's why it's there (for now).

I haven't seen anything else I'd like so far. but I'm hoping Mad Max will fill the void.

@k4tzm4n: I haven't hit the theaters much this year, but when I have it's been good:

The Theory of Everything (biopic about Stephen Hawking)
Mad Max: Fury Road (because George Miller R-U-L-E-S)
and Mortdecai (if I could time travel, Peter Sellars instead of Johnny Depp)

And yeah, I have seen Avengers: Age of Ultron this year.

@neghead: The Theory of Everything is next on my Netflix queue.

Seeing a lot of love for It Follows. I wanted to check that out but never got around to it.

I've only seen Age of Ultron. :/

Mad Max even though I haven't seen it yet.

The only stuff that I've watched so far that I actually found good were Kingsman, Fury Road and Cinderella; there's also some other movies like Dragon Blade and Furious 7 that are entertaining even though they aren't good. Taken 3 and Jupiter Ascending were the worst. I have yet to see Ex Machina and no interest in seeing Mortdecai other than maybe coming back to it out of curiosity if it turns out to be the movie that marked the end of Johnny Depp's career.

There are still films that I wish to see (Southpaw, Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation, Terminator Genisys etc.) before I finalize my list, but as it stands;

It Follows was great. It had an especially awesome score.

Considering that I haven't been to the theaters in a long while, my choices may not be from this year but I've seen them for the first time this year so it counts. (^-^o) So without further ado:

1. The Imitation Game. Without a doubt, this is probably Benedict Cumberbatch's best role yet. The movie was paced well and the characters were well developed. One that I plan on adding to my collection.

2. The Heat. There wasn't anything spectacularly imaginative about this comedy, but Melissa McCarthy murdered my sides and it was better than I expected. It's always pleasant when a movie surpasses your initial expectations.

3. ........The universe hasn't gifted me with it yet, but I've got 7 more months to find whoever fits the glass slipper. .....

So Far the only movie I have seen is AOU.

I do want to see FF7 and Mad Max Fury road.

Now that Jurassic World is out, I'm bumping this to see if anyone's list changes.

(Mine remains the same... so far. Wondering if Inside Out will bump something off my list.)

@k4tzm4n: It's Pixar, has and 88 on Metacritic, 9.1 on IMDb, and 100% on Rotten tomatoes so yeah it probably will top everything.

All this thread did was make me realize I barely go to the movies. Avengers: Age of Ultron is all I've see this year.

Only seen two movie, Age of Ultron which was great and Terminator Genysis which was decent.
