Was Grant Gustin justified in not gaining weight for 'The Flash'?
Idk when he said it...but honestly if your role would be more believable or if it would improve the overall astetic of the show you star in to gain weight and look more formidable for the role, then why not?
I mean its his decision at the end of the day, but the fans and producers of the show are just as validated if they believe that a Year 3 or 4 Flash should appear a certain way.

He does not have the right/ideal build no but that would be excused if he was a good actor.
He's not.
CW finding a guy that not only a little scrawny kid from glee , but also the complete opposite of barry allen , Barry is 6'1 , atleast 170-180 ibs , and blonde , Gustin is 5'7-5'8 , like 140-150 ibs and is a brunette , I'm sorry but Stephen amell looks more like a barry allen than gustin
I don't understand why people are always downing the CW. If you don't like it, don't watch it. It's a different take on the Flash. People always expecting just a straight adaptation into live action and that's not how it works. Different people want to make it their own, add their own touch.
I kinda get the notion that Flash is slender, since his power is his speed, not his muscle. That being said, too scrawny would be a problem, but I think he's at the right size. The suit could use an improvement though
Flash has good reviews anyways who cares what he looks like
I do
I still like the story tho
If I think an actor would better inhabit a role if he gained or lost 10 pounds, why shouldn't I suggest that he does so? The body is an important part of any actor because it's what we actually see of them, and this includes qualities of the body that are relatively difficult to change, like weight. Of the actor, only the conformity of his body to certain requirements will contribute to the the performance or film reel, and this conformity can only be partially achieved through the actor's mental abilities (you can, in a timely manner, think yourself into making a particular facial expression, but not being taller or heavier, for the audience/cameras).
Its actually better that hes skinny. When he jobs it just looks more believable.
Lmao xD
@birdman400: He's actually 6'2"
@birdman400: He's actually 6'2"
There's not a chance he's 6'2", if he's said that in the past or is listed as that, it's a lie.
@modernww2fare: He's definitely not.
10lbs would make next to no difference realistically so I guess it would be pointless.
@mexicutioner: He's about the same height as Stephen Armell who is 6'1".
I agree with him. Not all superheroes need to be muscular and some kind of aestethic gods. Ezra Miller bulked up pretty much for his role as the Flash for the upcoming Justice League movie and I am not okay with that. The Flash needs to be skinnier than the rest of the heroes but he shouldn't be some kind of a stick man either. It would be better if Grant gained 5 pounds or something like that but not mucle, just weight.
@wispymatt: Yeah, he's a bit shorter than Amell so he's probably around 5'11 which to me is a completely fine height for Flash

Elite sprinters generally have far better physiques than Marathon runners. And since Flash is supposed to be the fastest man alive he should actually look like how the fastest men alive do. Gustin is just lazy and doesn't want to do it. It's very distracting in the show for him to have this massive fold on the belly of his costume, this big cowl, and twig legs.
To be fair, Ezra Miller doesn't really look Barry either
have you seen him now? he dyed his hair ,added muscle , he legit looks like barry allen now , like its an amazing transformation
@birdman400: I haven't
Can you post the pic? It would be nice
@khael: cant seem to find the picture :( , and plus he has no social media so it's gonna be very difficult
@birdman400: He's dyed his hair? But didn't he have his usual hair in BvS?
@birdman400: it's okay :)
Thanks for the information ^^
@birdman400: He's dyed his hair? But didn't he have his usual hair in BvS?
BvS was filmed last year lol
@birdman400: Yeah?
@birdman400: Yeah?
filming ended in November/December , we're in june , use some common sense dude
@birdman400: So he, as Wally West, had his normal dark long hair in BvS and now you're saying he's dyed his hair to continue playing Wally?
I'm the one lacking common sense? lmao
@mexicutioner: He's playing Barry if I'm not mistaken friend
@sebast_allen: Damn, that's my bad. Thanks.
Unless it was required for him to gain weight, I dont see why he should have. Sure a lot of actors go through extreme body transformations for roles, but thats just them going the extra mile. Adding 10 pounds doesnt really change anything. Besides he looks hot the way he is.
@birdman400: So any answer yet to why he'd dye his hair when he's supposed to have his normal hair in the DCEU?
Wow that reaction, sounds as if somone hit a nerve! lol
I'm not hating, I absolutiely LOVE Gustin in the role... On the other hand, NO ONE asked Amell to get in sick shape for Arrow, he chose to do that all on his own, and it was later incorporated into the show. I realize that it's comparing apples and oranges here but I'm just saying, it wouldn't be terrible to see Gustin grow into the role physically as he is emotionally/mentally.
Does that reenforce a negative body image sterotype? Yes and no, depending on your point of view... A superhero is a metaphor for the pinacel of humainty, including physically. And let's face it, people just want to see their heros yoked.. Me included. :-P

nope , I guess DCEU wants him to be blonde , idk he might not even be blonde , you never know lol
