Transgender killed in Hate Crime

As Transgenders are fighting to have their voice and rights heard and respected, there are still feelings of unrest with many people.

This week the 22nd reported transgender death occurred in Gaithersberg, Maryland.

Zella Ziona, who was 21-years-old, was fatally killed after an argument on Thursday. The group of about four or five teenagers, surrounded Zella, most likely picking a fight with her.

You know it’s never a good sign when you get outnumbered. It’s not clear what they were arguing about exactly, but what we do know is not too long after one of the teens fired shots.

To make matters even worse, the shooter shot her in the head multiple times with no remorse. Why are these teenagers in the streets with guns?!

Zella was found in an alley way nearby before she was rushed to the hospital, she was later pronounced dead a few hours later.

Police have arrested 20-year-old Rico Hector Leblond, for his connection to the crime.

The article itself admits that it is totally assuming it was because the person was trans and not because of what they where doing or the people they associate with.

No. Punishment as an end is cruelty. Say no to cruelty. Find the integrity necessary to stand up for what you truly believe in without intimidating people with a cosmic Santa Clause that will reward your good behaviour and punish them. Find the truth. See it for yourself, and then share it. See what it thinks ought to be done with these murderers. Take from them to feed our egos by asserting our superiority as closer representations of moral behaviour? Or take from them to show them the truth, to compel them to renounce their immoral behaviours? Blind hatred or foresight? Desert or deterrent?

That's terrible. I hope they find the people who did it. With that said this isn't a hate crime and shouldn't be labeled a hatecrime as if it's set in stone. There's no proof of it being a hate crime and @somayareece you even acknowledge that we don't know what went down in your comment

So it's just a transgender person being killed. It's very possible that it could be hate crime but I have no idea why you've labeled it as such as if it's confirmed. Your title is misleading, I suggest you change it.

If a mentally ill black person killed a transgender illegal immigrant with a gun would they blame the gun or the Republicans?

People are definitely paying too much attention to this just because she was transgender. A person was killed for an unknown reason, they just happened to be transgender so it's getting far more attention than a murder normally would. If it were an actual confirmed hate crime I would understand the attention but it's just a transgender person that got gunned down, that happens all the time to non transgender people and it doesn't get nearly as much publicity. As a society we should get to a point where this isn't huge news, I mean don't transgender people want to be treated like everyone else? It works both ways, a transgender person dying shouldn't be treated as any more important than anyone else dying just because there's the possibility of it being a hate crime. And it definitely shouldn't be labeled as a hate crime when there's no proof of such a claim.
