Post anything and everything Elder Scrolls in this thread.
The Official Elder Scrolls Thread
Yeah I'm a big fan of the series. I've played Oblivion, Skyrim and started on Morrowind and read the first of the two books. I'm not sure about the idea of an MMO, but I'll see before I judge.
Hopefully Elder Scrolls VI is set in Summerset and gives us a chance to get even with the Altmeri Domain.
This is the best bard song in all of Skyrim. You only unlock it when you finish the main quest.
Only played Oblivion - but definitely a big fan of the game. I never did finish the campaign though, because I always get bored of it after a while, before going back to it again. Need to get around to buying Skyrim soon, but my hardware's not really capable of running it I don't think.
I had a Level 31 Argonian thief/archer named Fin Fang Foom ;)
@ssejllenrad: Well I have this one;
@johnnygat: I have got epic character builds for you.

Tsaesci Yni'ka Paal:
Go to: theskyrimblog.ning.com and search for these character builds and there will be instructions on how to build these characters even without mods so try it.
Hope no one minds if I bring this back...
Currently playing Morrowind. It just may well be the best.
People can burn me for all I care... I still do believe Morrowind is a better game than any in the series.
@ssejllenrad: Well I have this one;
Fistbump! You got real taste, mate.
One thing that bothers me is that Redguard was meant to be in a "swashbuckling" era... Sort of like pirates and all that with its cutlasses and all that... But succeeding games seem to go back in time and once again play in "Late Imperial Rome" era.... Just nitpicking. Hehehehehe!
I love Elder Scrolls, funny story actually.. Growing up I never liked them until my brother was playing Oblivion and telling me how awesome it was, and I just complained that it was to open and has no story. And yes I had tried it, several times infact. It took me a year or so to out of boredom force myself all the way through it and it was actually REALLY awesome and ive been a huge fan of the series ever since.. Played the crap out of skyrim and read up on lore and everything, I am no eagerly awaiting the next game in the series! I am not very keen on the idea of a MMO though.. It just doesnt suit the Elder Scrolls style, I hope it wont take to much focus of a potential sequal (id love one set in Blackmarsh).

elder scrolls is one of the most over rated game franchises of all time.
it is one of the most bland and generic games i have ever played.
really i have seen better games on the fu%king sega CD i
the story of skyrim is some of the most boring shit i have ever seen
skyrim: oh a civil war between factions why is this story so filmier (fallout new vegas)
Bethesda is dry in the creative department its sad i really did not care for the older elder scrolls games either.
sorry for the angry rant.
Yes Elder Scrolls Online is gonna be like Morrowind and Skyrim in one( not a big fan of Oblivion) and I can't wait.
Is Oblivion good? I've only enjoyed Skyrim and I want to try Oblivion too but I want to know what's different or which one is better.

I am not even going to bother...
And watch out for the swearing.

Indeed, Oblivion is a good game, but it can be very frustrating for someone who is already familiar for Skyrim. The first problem is that leveling is quite the burden, for the strength of your enemies increase and they become more and more difficult. Also the bounties you receive will not be limited to just one hold, you can get arrested by guards from a city that you didn't commit a crime and for every 100 fine you pay to them, you loose one skill point. And some faction quests can end up impossible to finish too. I recommend you to check it out, but keep what I just said in mind.
@dragonborn_ct: I see. Thank you!

The "Madmen" of the Reach
A Cultural Treatise on the Forsworn
by Arrianus Arius, Imperial Scholar
A defense of the Forsworn.
Since the legendary victory of Tiber Septim over the "barbarian natives" in the Battle of Old Hroldan, Imperial and Nord scholarship has cast the people of the Reach as little more than savages, prone to irrational fits of violence, worshipping old, heretical gods, and fetishizing beasts and nature spirits that any civilized person would best well avoid. In truth, these accounts are little more than "victor's essays," a perspective narrowed by the Empire's constant strife with the ancient, proud people that lived in this land far before Tiber Septim walked the soil of Tamriel. In light of this, I hope to create a more complete, accurate, and fair assessment of a group that has long suffered under the role of "enemy," "troublemakers," and "them."
Let us begin with the Forsworn, the so-called "madmen" of the Reach. The Imperial Legion classifies them as little more than brigands, noting their constant raids and ambushes within the Hold. But none of their military reports asks the question of "why?" If they were merely a group of bandits, surely they would be focused on acquiring gold and minimizing deaths among their own. But the opposite is true in Forsworn attacks. Large sums of coin are often left behind, and their fighters easily throw away their lives rather than risk capture by Imperial soldiers.
It is this incongruity that led me to Markarth, the capital city of the Reach, in search of answers. There, I met one of the native peoples, an old woman who preferred to not be named in my writings. She told me of her family's long history. How she believes they originally came from High Rock, home of the Bretons (which would explain the similar faces and stature of the two peoples). How the Nords came and took their lands, their gods, and their culture from them. When asked about the Forsworn, the old woman would say that they are the "real" men and women of the Reach: those that refused to give in to the Nords. Those that still practiced the ancient traditions that the rest of their people had abandoned in exchange for peace.
In time, I was able to create trust with many more natives in my search that corroborated the old woman's story. By chance, one of them arranged a meeting between myself and what I thought was an elder member of his village. I was shocked to find that I was led to a camp, filled with the animal skulls, severed heads, and still beating hearts that I had read about from the military reports back in the Imperial City. There, I met Cortoran, a Forsworn, who seemed amused at the prospect of me writing down his story. Which I quote in full below:
"You want to know who the Forsworn are? We are the people who must pillage our own land. Burn our own ground. We are the scourge of the Nords. The axe that falls in the dark. The scream before the gods claim your soul. We are the true sons and daughters of the Reach. The spirits and hags have lived here from the beginning, and they are on our side. Go back. Go back and tell your Empire that we will have our own kingdom again. And on that day, we will be the ones burying your dead in a land that is no longer yours."
@dragonborn_ct: Haha I read that the other day, weird coincidence.
@anywhichwaybutup: LOL I found the Forsworn amusing... They are not so different than the Nords since they are fighting for their own homeland. I wonder if this thought ever crossed the minds of other Stormcloak players when they did the Markarth storyline. Who would they side with in the end: Madanach or Thonar Silver-Blood? I know that every time, I help kill Thonar for throwing me into jail.
@dragonborn_ct: I kinda thought they resembled the Falmer more than the Nords since well the Nords shouldn't even be in Tamriel all together. I've only done the mission once and that was a year ago, but I thought if I helped kill the jarl i'd always have a bounty there so I just turned on my cell mates. I saw some thoughts on Youtube but what do you think happened to the dwarves.
@anywhichwaybutup: You referring to the Dwemer (Deep Elves)? Most people believe it has to do with the Heart of Lorkhan, a artifact that they attempted to control, but resulted in their entire race being wiped out by its unstable powers. The details of course are very vague, but many people believe they were transported to other plane of existence, while one account said their bodies were reduced to ash meaning they were killed off for real. Personally, I think they were all destroyed for tampering with the Heart of Lorkhan.
@ghostrider2: A lot of people are saying it's gonna take place in Hammerfell.. In my opinion it should be in Valenwood or Summerset Isles.
@kingofash: might lag a bit, patches are going to be a nightmare. but since my comp can't really handle a game like that (or any really) im looking forward to elder scrolls on ps4 .
@anywhichwaybutup: well, i hope for a 2014 release, until then skyrim again.
@dragonborn_ct: Really? I thought the dwemer weren't big on aedra and daedra belief.
@jonny_anonymous: true that but when im buying the legendary edition i will join imperials.For the legion, for the empire.lol
@jonny_anonymous: reminds me of "all hail the true king of the north!"
@xeno_seeker: Pfft never mind they pretenders I only bend knee to the King Beyond the Wall
@dragonborn_ct: Really? I thought the dwemer weren't big on aedra and daedra belief.
Indeed, the Dwarves choose the way of science and technology over magic, but its not a matter of believing on Gods and more like proving if they exist or not. Hell, they were said to summon Daedra in order to put their divinity to the test. That is what they thought they could tamper with the Heart of Lorkhan and get away with it and look where its gotten them.
@dragonborn_ct: You know Arniel from the CoW if you do his missions( Arniel's Endeavors) he tries to recreate what he thinks happened to the Dwemer. He basically experiments on a warped soul gem with the weapon Keening. But long story short he disappears as a consequence for trying to do things he shouldn't with the soul gem. It's pretty cool and you get to summon a spectral form of him afterwards.
If they give us a coop Elder Scrolls/Fallout game on the next gen consoles I will be set for the next ten years. Playing it with 2-4 friends and everyone building their own characters side-by-side while completing quests together.. so epic.

Yeah I remember that. And if I recall correctly, the Keening dagger was the same one used to access the Heart of Lorkhan by the Dwemer, at least from what we see from Morrowind. I liked using Arniel cause he could beat Apprentice-level for no magicka cost, no cooldown, is quite resistant to both physical and magical damage and has an AI that keeps enemies at a distance while constantly zapping them with streams of lightning. Having trouble with Malyn Varen's Dremora minions in Azura's Star? Pop in Arniel, sit back and watch the light show.
What faction does everybody side with?
