The alphabet murders (also known as the "double initial murders") occurred in the 1970s in the Rochester, New York, area and possibly in Los Angeles, California. Kenneth Alessio Bianchi (born May 22, 1951) is an Americanserial killer, kidnapper, and rapist. He and his cousin Angelo Buono, Jr., together are known as the Hillside Stranglers. He is serving a sentence of life imprisonment in Washington. Bianchi is also a suspect in the alphabet murders, three unsolved murders in his home city of Rochester, New York (source of information: Wikipedia).

Three young girls were raped and strangled in the Rochester, New York area.

The case received its name from the fact that each of the girls' first and last names started with the same letter. Furthermore, each body was found in a town that had a name starting with the same letter as the victim's name:

Carmen Colon in Churchville

Michelle Maenza in Macedon

Wanda Walkowicz in Webster

====================

Why did the killer want to find people whose first and last names started with the same letter and matched fhr first name of their hometown? Was/is Kenneth Bianchi a verifiable suspect, given that he was found to be associated with the circles related to the alphabet murders?

It seems that the elusive Alphabet Killer wanted to prove something or convey something with his sardonic alliteration gesture.

Perhaps the matching name letters and hometown letter suggests the killer had a message about human settlement/domestication and hence something nihilistic to say about travel/escapism? Perhaps the killer had some grudge with property considerations (or immigration). Perhaps he wanted letters to match to make some podium about the serendipity of misfortune/death and/or the 'weight' of nihilism/atheism (e.g., God's neglect of Eden).

Whatever the intentions/psychology of the Alphabet Killer were, we are fascinated as a society with this pattern detective work, since we are investigating the 'tragedy of domestic terror.'

Huh, this is actually not the worst thread that I've ever seen in off-topic forum.
