Poll Should I take a 12 year old to the cinemas to watch Deadpool movie 2016? (75 votes)

Yes, comic book movies are suitable for young kids 35%
No, not all comic book movies are suitable for young kids 65%

my understanding is that it is mostly little boys and girls that read comics.

my nephew loves to read comics on batman and superman, recently he also picked up some comic book named deadpool, and is annoying me to take him to watch the movie Deadpool.

should I? my nephew is 12 years old

Up to his parents.

Most of it is just language and bloody violence. Me personally I wouldn't be worried about this.

There is a few scenes involving sexual acts and/or dialogue that may or may not be appropriate depending on the maturity of your nephew

Again though - not my call. Ask his parents and show them a trailer or two

As long he's with you, then there's no problem.

I voted no.

As much as I loved the movie, 12 just seems *too* young.

Yeah, asking his parents is priority one. You being the uncle, you could probably get away with it if you knuckle under. I wouldn't take my nephew to see it, but that's just me.

I almost took a 9 year old, decided better. It wasnt that bad. He sees worse on family guy and says worse with his friends.

My dad took me to see Spawn and I loved it. I was... 9? And I don't think I am a bad person, and that was just as brutal, more sexual, and scary as hell with demons and hell and shit.

Just latching on to what previous people said - you need to check with his parents. It's rated R for a reason. A good tip is to check the parents guide on the IMDB page for the movie. There are occasionally some spoilers in them, but major ones are usually marked in some way.

lol because 12 year olds never hear curse words at school, and never watch porn or movies with graphic violence...

I wouldn't just because people are judgmental as hell and it's easy enough to wait for On Demand or DVD.

I'd say the sexual aspect is what makes it particularly important that you make sure its ok with his parents.

@bloodblunts: Yes, because two years makes so much of a difference. Sarcasm* It amazes me how many people think kids are these fragile innocent creatures that can be corrupted by any little thing.

If he's older than 7 he's heard curse words and learned what sex is at school, if he's older than 9 he's probably looked up porn and watched gory gameplay videos.

Just because he does doesn't make it alright to enable that type of behavior.

I mean, it's a slippery slope. If you take him when he's twelve, why not take an 11 year old? Why not take a 7 year old? What's one more year, right? What's four more years, right?

But anyway, it's up to the parents. If they think their kid is ready, they'll say yes. If not, they'll say no.

Sure it's the perfect kid movie, even more than Spidey and Batman because it's more human than either than them and it's completely emmersed in humor and raw action, it's explicitness is just natural human nature thats also basked in silliness. It's basically too juvenile to be truly adult and basically spends it's time trolling in a cliche predictable way,

Plus it's makes kids seem cooler when they grow up, like South Park did at thier youth.

Tons of people have been bringing babies, toddlers, preteens, teenagers, whoever really to the movie. A lot of older people leave because they're not enjoying it. It's really strange to me, but I gave up trying to understand different generations a long time ago.

Bringing a 12 year old that is mature enough to know what is right and what is wrong, that is totally okay. Not like they can't go play GTA or watch any cable TV show like the Walking Dead and see the same sex scenes and violence minus the F-word.

To OP: Your poll is invalid. It's 2 loaded answers. You need to just give 2 options, yes, or no. Not, "yes, every comic book movie ever made or that will be made is okay for any child to watch", or "no, you should use your judgment to determine rather a child should see the movie or not". Because clearly the answer could be a combination of those things. The more you elaborate on your answers the more you typically load your answers.

I hate bad polls.

No. Deadpool is a fun action movie... for adults. But, it's not appropriate for 12 year olds.

As scary as it is, the vast majority of cape comic readers are adults.

If yes, then yes. If no, then NO! He's still innocent!

Is explicit in sex like a porno, does it have gore like saw and hostel, does it have edgy drama like Silence of the Lambs. Then it's not that adult. It's basically kick ass(the movie) on crack.
