Wow I can't believe he's gone. This REALLY sucks. Like alot of people I grew up with him doing characters like the Genie from Aladdin and Pan. Feel free to post your thoughts and fondest memories of one of Hollywood's most beloved and talented actors.
Robin Williams Respect Thread
I just finished watching Aladdin for the first time in years. It was one of my two favorite Disney movies when I was a kid.
I plan on watching Mrs. Doubtfire tomorrow.
I was legitimately shocked to hear that he died. This sad, gonna need to go watch Hook in his honor.
@ostyo: I dont know how to move it over there. Would you mind helping?

IIRC if you hover your first post and hit "full edit" you can change it, but I could be wrong so don't hold me to that lol
@god_spawn: I wasn't a big fan of Dead Poets Society, but I think I have to re-watch the entire movie for that ending scene.

I moved it.
@god_spawn: Thanks
Aladdin was the first movie I'd ever seen. Robin Williams was a hero to me during a much happier time on my life. It's just so hard to believe that he's gone now and not only that...he killed himself......
It's just so messed ip
Would have been an awesome joker in the new batman. Robin Williams paid Christopher Reeves medical bills after he was paralyzed, they were classmates at Julliard together.
Jumanji and Hook were the two movies I watched the most as a kid. :'(
Yea Hook and Mrs. Doubtfire I watched when I was younger about fifty times. He was excellent in Awakenings.
Some of my favorites growing up (in no particular order)
- Jumanji
- Hook
- Patch Adams
- What Dreams May Come
- Good Will Hunting
- Dead Poets Society
- Good Morning, Vietnam
- Ferngully
- Aladdin (Not the third one)
- Mrs. Doubtfire
- Toys
- Jack
- Bicentennial Man
Just out of respect.
You're free Genie.
Seriously though it's not the death that honestly shocks me, it's how. You look at him, his films, his interviews, and you think; this is a happy man, but obviously that wasn't the case. It really shows how little people can really know of these celebrities and icons. Sure, I don't hold the delusion of thinking I know an actor or actress based off their films or interviews but it just so...weird. You think "Robin Williams" the last thing you'd think is suicide.
Regardless, he has left behind an amazing ensemble of some of the most heartfelt and funniest films to date, may he rest in peace.
I grew up on Mork & Mindy reruns and enjoyed some of his weirder roles like in Death to Smoochy and One Hour Photo. Still I've never been much of a Robin Williams fan.
I still can't believe he died. He was so unique, there will never be anyone like him ever again. I don't remember where I heard the story of when he came to Christopher Reeve when he was in the hospital after the horse accident. But, Reeve was doing really bad and was thinking of suicide and in came Robin in character cheering him up. He was a good dude.

Many of those were some of my favourites too. Can't believe he's really gone, why must the good die young? Especially someone as kind and good natured as Robin Williams. RIP Mr Williams, you'll definitely be missed.

Thats really cool.
Thanks for some the films I grew up with like Hook, Aladdin, Jumanji, and Mrs. Doubtfire.
Rest in peace Robin Williams.
