Nas vs Eminem
@King Saturn said:that would go to Nas IMO...wins in what exactly ?who can rap better and who made better songs
thoes are my two favorite rapers.
many factors would come into play nas is far better at being conscience and being a story teller
but EM has the technical stuff down to a "T" his word play and metaphor word problems are just insane (prim example bad meets evil: hell the sequal)
and EM has sold way more(way way way more)
but nas has a been a bigger influence on hip hop (including inspiring eminem)
eminem did pave the way for white rappers to be taken more seriously in t6he hip hop game
insted of only making party music like cypres hill and house of pain(i like them both just stated what i kno to be facts)

That is true but I personally have called Nas one of his succesors. Stylewise. Atleast until he turned back christian and even then.
And whats with all this matching 90's rap legends against Eminem? Its boarderline disrespectful to the game. Em is a talented commercial rapper and the artist from the 90's are pioneers of the genre. To me there is no competition between the two. commerical will always lose.
Atleast thats the way I see it.
Rakim= toaa
Correct!
Nas=Living Tribunal
Biggie=Galactus
Wu-Tang=Heralds of Galactus
Jay-z=Thanos
Eminem=Spider Man

Eminem has the better fow, but Nas has the most quality. Most hardcore Em fans aren't hip-hop fans. Most Nas fans take great pride in knowing about REAL hip-hop. The Big Daddy Kanes, the MC Shans, Rakims, and so on. The ones who think Em is the best don't usually listen to anything other than the commercial rap.

If you choose Eminem you instantly lose credibility. Even Eminem would put Nas above him, like the famous line in "Till I Collapse". "I got a list, here's the order of my list that it's in: It goes Reggie, Jay-Z, Tupac and Biggie, Andre from Outkast, Jada, Kurupt, Nas, and then me."
Nas Illmatic is the best rap CD I ever listened to by far. Every song on that album was so full of life. Not one single filler. No one is as real as Nas. No one.
Edit: I do admit the Marshall Mathers LP is one of the better rap CD's I have heard as well. If Eminem quit or died after that album I bet he would be perceived differently. Now he sings with Rihanna and makes pop music. It hurts his legacy among real rap purists, despite the hundreds of millions he made by selling out.
@kasino: you are the first person in the thread to say that. Congratulations, there's always 1.
Listen to Illmatic one time man.

LMAO. Have you ever heard of subjective opinions? Your opinions on the matter isn't fact in no shape, form, or fashion.
But do explain why Nas is objectively above Shady-----I'm all ears. He's factually below Eminem in the technical department, has less versatile flows, no where near the freestyle, or rap battled Marshall is, nor is his word-play touching Eminem's own.

Yeah, later on he ranked it 2Pac & B.I.G. with himself occupying the third and fourth spot. So nah, outdated quote is outdated, kek.
Oh, for the record, I actually prefer Nas to Eminem, tbh. Illmatic > any record Eminem has ever produced. I just don't like when others treat their opinions as objective fact, lal.

Shady. You Nas fans are ridiculous.
The irony.
Eminem and 2Pac has the worst fan-base in Hip-Hop, lal. The bulk of them don't even listen to rap really, and can't tell the difference between a multi from an inner, hehe.
@deronn_solo: Thing is, Em and Pac are only overrated by the casuals, which their two cents shouldn't really be taken serious anyways.
Nas, on the other hand, is overrated by people who supposedly "know hip hop."
@deronn_solo: TBH on sites like Comicvine, Reddit i see more ppl voting for Nas being the best rapper ever rather than Eminem. Eminem has way more diversity, you cant deny that
@avatar_of_green: please don't...like in the Wayne vs Em thread, I said he's top four(actually fourth). If you want we can discuss this reasoning(as mine isn't one album based).
Nas is great but Eminem is the greatest. Seriously listen to his albums Infinitie, Slim Shady LP & ENCORE... I honestly think Illmatic is one of the most overrated albums in hip hop history
- Both are masters of rapping and hands down two of the top five Rap GOATs.......But Nas is better lyrically and Em is better verbally(Flow).
- And what i mean by this is that Nas, has better actual lyrics,metaphors, similes, meaningful words and dense poetic bars...Em is pretty good lyrically but hes nowhere near Nas interms of lyrics.
- In regards to flow.....Nas has a pretty dope flow but its a Little by the books and lacks flavor, like that of a Tupac, Biggie, Snoop Dog, Andre 3000, or a Jay Z...You can tell Nas got alot of his influence from Rakim in regards to flow...Dont get me wrong Rakim is a rap God and pretty much wrote the book on how to flow...But his flow especially by modern standards is very one dimensional....Bigge and Pac took what Rakim did and brought to another level...Then you got chameleon dudes like Jay Z who can literally rap on any beat and still sound amazing..Jay-Z might have the best flow in Rap.
- Em on the other hand compared to Nas.... has a much better delivery, better rhyme scheme,better word play and a much better flow, he can speed up or slow down effortlessly and always stay on beat...And Em is a mater of readjusting his flow in order to smoothly make words that dont necessarily rhyme somehow rhyme with each other...The way he transitions in and out of 1 bar verses is by far the best ive seen out of any rapper.
- So you cant go wrong either way.
