Hello and welcome to my latest kitten review. This time around I'll be discussing my favorite game the came out in the 2014 gaming season. It's a blast from the past, clad in blue armor and wielding a garden tool of justice, Shovel Knight.
Story:
We open up on our noble protagonist,Shovel Knight and his good friend Shield Knight as the are about to embark on a journey to explore the Tower of Fate. But, 8 bit tragedy hits, as the duo sub-comes to dark magic. When Shovel Knight awakens, he finds himself alone and sealed off from the tower. Grief stricken, our hero hangs it up, seemingly for good. During his absence, The Enchantress rises to power and spreads bad joo joo across the pixel land, she also opens the Tower of Fate once again. Hearing this, SK sets out, hoping to find his lost friend. However it won't be such an easy task, standing in his way is propeller weasels, flaming fish bones and the vile Order of No Quarter.
Overview:
This game is the personification of fun a total tribute to the NES era, honoring the champions that came before it such as Mario, Legend of Zelda and Castlevaina, The Order of No Quarter is just quirky and memorable as the Robot masters of ye olde Mega Man. SK is more the nostalgia, boasting a lot of own heart and charm, with its vibrant levels, unique lore and it's addicting soundtrack (the again, all 8-bit music is)
Don't dismiss it's classic side scrolling style, the game can own you cause it is delightfully difficult, but never cheap. You'll get to a spot, be it a jump or a little puzzle that will cause you try it again a couple more times, though it's not Ninja Gaiden levels. Sub and Main bosses will have your number if you're not careful, but that's why the loot and shop system is so good, so you can gear up and finally hand Specter knight his ethereal butt.
The one draw back is the game is short(much like this review) even with all the secrets to find it still clocks in around 5 hours, 10 if you try your hand at new game plus. However with how good this game was, I expect to see a sequel soon.
In the end, I give this game a 10 out of 10. Catch it for Wii U, 3ds, Vita and your PC.
For Shovelry !
